PSA - Reports

Lately, we'd been seeing an uptick in reports where no rules have been broken.  PLEASE cite an actual rule in your report.  If you can't find a rule that covers what you're reporting, don't make the report.  We do not take action against people that have broken no rules. And remember - abuse of the reporting system counts as a violation of the Rules.

I'm curious. I have only ever reported obvious socks/spambots. Even those only occassionally. What is the general nature of such reports if you can share that info?

My favorite was something about lack of scientific knowledge lol
We get a lot about someone just being rude

God's balls - if we banned people for scientific ignorance, we'd have to get rid of....umm...never mind.

I know this is highly necrotic, but there are some users who still aren't using the Report System properly.  The system is intended to call the attention of staff to those members who have broken the rules.  You can't report someone for being a jackass, or saying something rude about your mum, or for having a point of view you don't like, or even for general douchbaggery.

I ask again - when you make a report please cite the rule that's been broken.  Frivolous reports have to be looked at and discussed as much as legitimate ones.  This takes time and effort.  So, you know, please think before you report.
