The link doesn’t work for me at all. It just says “Sorry something went wrong”

Finally Together, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB and @brianrrs37 on twitter)
They never met Face to face But are finally in Their resting place My Buckeye mom And my best friend Will rest side by side In their respective urns Debra and Jane Had more in common On politics and economics While Robert and I were peas in a pod Bob's scruffy beard Never bothered me But "shave", my mom Drilled into me every day When face to face On video Skype They'd gang up on me To get a laugh Tis the story Of my life An easy tease For family and friends My deepest regret Is all I have left Are two urns A reminder of What did not happen. I can imagine Bob, Debra John and I At the same table Eating mince pie A beetroot burger Of which I'd deny They are chips, not french fries Mom and all Would gang up on me Just like my high school friends I'm an easy tease But reality Is bittersweet Jane and Bob's ashes Are my memories Bob would talk Of Sagan and Hitchens John, Debra and Mom Would sing Nelson and John Denver But Ohio State Always had my back ABBA and Redskins My mom was a fan Bob would Listen in On an NFL Weekend Though the sport Was not his thing He'd love listening to me Come unglued When my Redskins Did themselves in Black and white reel Of the engines colliding Those two urns Are my new sentries Side by side Bittersweet memories. One thing I noticed about bars, and high end presentation. The staff will hold up a wine or beer bottle tilted to your face so you can read the label. I don't know, it is like a male porn star showing his dick to the female performer, "Is this the cock you want?" It is now official. My late mother's ashes and my best friend Bob's ashes are sitting next to each other in my house. They did video chat with me on Skype over the years and my mom loved Bob like a son, but they never met in person. But they are finally together.
Here is a poem I wrote last year sitting in Bob's sister's back yard.
Russell Island, By Brian37(AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB and brianrrs37 on twitter) From the veranda Overlooking the sloped backyard To see the beauty Is not that hard Mangrove trees With octopus roots In low tide Attack the drying mud Great pretender This half moon lagoon Pretending it is a dry riverbed In some scorching part of Africa But no, It is just a slight indentation In my friend's back yard High tide will remind it Shimmering silverback waters No you are not Africa The underlying turqoise Of the bay will remind you The calm tide gently creeps in It wants to sooth the angry roots Lapping around them as if They're photons acting as both particle and wave Those clever double slit waters Undulate the shadows of the roots Swaying and snaking Under the broccoli branch mangrove And those chimps Are not Orangutans Any which way but loose They're kookaburras Lap lap lap The tide slowly creeps in A heavy piece of driftwood Submerges like a navy sub But it is only temporary The tide retreats Those angry roots Exposed again |
