I never knew that the Ukraine has the prettiest women on earth.

The people of Ukraine have been named as the sexiest in the world, according to a new survey.

Men and women hailing from the Eastern European nation were found to be the most attractive, followed by Danish and Filipino in third.

But for the "Ukraine" to stand out, well this is weird and strange. All my life I pictured Russian-like people to be cruel in terms of physique; but looks like I was following a stereotype.

Not that women of different ethnic groups don't stand out, not at all. But white women have some unique features -for those who know how to develop them-.

Where did they get their samples?   Catalogues for mail ordered brides?

Economic theory says the most effective use of resources is to invest in where one has an competitive advantage.

Most of the above listed countries have a competitive advantage in exporting mail order brides, so no wonder they invests their resources in making their tramps look appealing to desperate old men with hairy palms.

But for the "Ukraine" to stand out, well this is weird and strange. All my life I pictured Russian-like people to be cruel in terms of physique; but looks like I was following a stereotype.

I'm not sure if this applies for you (I think you're based out of the Middle East and I'm not sure how much of Western or Soviet media made it to The Land of Nowhere), but that perception seems to be largely due to several factors that almost all had to do with the aftermath of the Russian Revolution, stuff that no longer really applied after Gorbachev:

• One relatively positive side-effect of the Bolshevik Revolution is that women ended up having a lot more of a role to play, and the Soviet constitution guaranteed women equality under the law (admittedly, given that damn near EVERYONE was repressed in the USSR, especially in the early days, that's not saying much), and quite a bit of the propaganda involved strong, muscular women working in the fields:
  
• Unfortunately, one of the less brutal, but depressing in their own ways, reforms they brought about was that fashion was considered bourgeois and frowned upon, so, therefore, when women weren't in uniform, they were expected to wear clothes that were simply functional, and often shabby and unflattering:
  
  
• The combination of these two factors was often seen as threatening, and most importantly, unattractive to the patriarchal Westerners who saw it, a point not helped by...
  
• The Olympics. Especially after Hiroshima, The Soviet Union was seen as an enemy to many of the Western nations. As a result, they did not have that much exposure to the people of Russia, and when they did, it was largely Russian diplomats. The one major exception was the Olympics, where the USSR sent both men and women, and the world saw them. And women in sports really tend (especially in that era) towards two extremes in body types: lithe, svelte, young things (gymnasts and tennis players, for instance), and the huge, masculine women (many of whom were allegedly given steroids by the government.)
  

And as the Iron Curtain fell, that stereotype started to die down. I know I talked mostly about Russia in this, but bear in mind that A) most Americans aren't terribly sensitive to the difference between Russians and other Slavs, and B) the Soviet Union ended up absorbing most of them anyway, and to this day, Russia is still squabbling with Ukraine over territorial disputes.

So, basically, when you're given a small reference pool to work from, you kind of assume that small pool is representative of the whole. I suspect if, for example, Iran started putting unattractive women in their propaganda (as opposed to the aggressively neutral effect that I'm fairly certain Hijab is meant to evoke) and we didn't live in an era where we could actually find counterexamples (whether on the Internet or from people who got the Hell out of Dodge and moved to a less oppressive part of the world), I strongly suspect that the same effect would apply to them. At least, if not for the fact that, prior to 9-11, the Islamic world was, if anything, more sexualised than many other areas, with images of sultans with harems who were legally allowed to be married to four of them simultaneously.
