Prolly so.

I even tried fly fishing. I gave up - cuz I got sick of hooking little bluegills.

When I fish wuth hook and line - I use ridiculously large hooks - to keep the little ones from swallowing hooks. The downside? You catch a shitload of bullhead. But at least the big ones put up a hellava fight.

I’d use dynamite if I could too, lol.

Dude! The Illinois dozer trawlers that the uscg developed for sampling are awesome. That’s just s few hours from me. Excellent crappie lake, good trout on the wolf creek branch.

The carp are so bad they’ve waived commercial license requirements. They parked a barge on the lakes to buy carp at a state guaranteed price/pound. They want to remove 60mil usd worth if carp at $.14(iirc) over the next few years.

It’s a huge little known business opportunity. It’ll save the lakes, too. I want an IDT pretty bad, but they’re not great bass boats.

The asian carp are going to wreck the Great Lakes.... All the barriers in the world won't help.

Proof - dig a pond - anywhere within 20 miles of another body of water. Within 5 years you will have fish.

It's not spontaneous evolution.

Fish eggs get carried in on the feet of waterfowl.

True shit.

We’ve just gotta make a bigger market for them. Incentivize capture. They’re going to be an issue in my home lake sooner or later. Like you say, waterfowl. Bait industry too, to an extent. The musky guys will lose their shit.

Mostly cat food and fertilizer now, I think. Need more people eating them.....is not like we don’t import trillions in fish sticks.

Not much of a one for camping, either.  My idea of 'roughing it' is a hotel without room service.

I have been fishing since I was a kid. Grew up near Boston, Mass. Rivers, brooks, and off shore. In the '60s there were still plenty of Cod. I have fished for Yellowtail tuna off the West coast, Sheepdhead, Dorado, Mako shark. Arizona for trout , bass, and cats. I now live in Kentucky. The fun places around here are reclaimed strip mines. When they are done done torturing the land they fill the pits with water and stock them. They seed the land too with forage and stock with turkey, Bobwhites. Some of these pits are small, 1/4 acre but might be 90ft deep 15ft off shore. Each one is a little different. Crappie, many varieties of bream, bass, cats. My favorite bait for cats is a live bluegill.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

Yeah, here's my idea of "roughing it". I've spent enough nights on the ground, I'm done with that. 26 feet long (including the tongue).

I pulled a big blue cat out of the slipway at cave run a couple weeks back, chimp. Live bluegill on a big baitrunner.

I haven't been fishing in years. But I grew up with quite diverse experiences in that area.

One grandfather was a charter boat captain who docked at Hatteras, NC on The Outer Banks. He fished the Gulf Stream. Marlin fishing (and the tournaments) was/is a big thing. I loved going out on the boat with grandpa. Spanish mackerel, red drum, dolphin, and tuna along with many other fish were landed.

My grandmother on the other side of the family fished ponds and rock quarries and the Mississippi River in Iowa. It was one extreme to the other - from the huge fish caught from grandpa's boats to fish that were the size of my tiny hands.

I enjoyed both but didn't ever get into it seriously and pretty much left fishing behind after they were both gone.
