On Occultism

RE: On Occultism
I knew a woman at work who was into Wicca. She believed in spells, magic potions and the power of crystals.  Wacky

The crystal healing people are so annoying to me. "This gemstone promotes happiness, peace of mind and a healthy heart."

Like... what? How the fuck do you know that? LOL.

Also, I dated a girl who claimed she was into witchcraft when she was younger and had "undeniable" experiences with the paranormal. She never did go into details about those experiences. Strange, because outward appearances would tell you she was a normal girl. But she was nuts... I didn't find this out until later, of course.

I'm absolutely positive that, if you can get enough people to buy your crystals, you will be happy.

This makes me think maybe I'm in the wrong line of work.

Actually... Wholesale, you can get a kilogram of mid-grade amethyst for about $8. I just searched up an amethyst healing crystal on Amazon on found a 1/2-1 lbs crystal being sold for $26.16. Let's just say you can sell amethyst for $26/pound. A kg is about 2.2 lbs, meaning you could sell one kg of amethyst for about $57. Obviously you'd have to factor in shipping costs and such... But goddam that's a profit margin if I ever saw one.

Yea, I'm definitely in the wrong line of work.

I went to a meeting out of curiosity at an occult shop once many years ago where these pagans and Wiccans would discuss magic and the tarot and stuff.  They discussed calling on city spirits and spirit guides and how they got signs and desires from them or how they did rituals using runes and crystals and incense, etc.  Very nice people even though their beliefs and practices are just as irrational as other religions which is why I found it odd that the christians in the area would protest the shop and tried to shut them down.

You weren't surprised that people who believe in one silly set of things got mad at another group of people who believed in another set of silly things. That's surprising. And silly.

But seriously... I should open up a fucking New-age spirituality shop. There's some money to be made there. That and monthly subscription boxes.

I hear what you're saying though. An examination of Ia Muslim and a Christian arguing will cause the atheist to step back and say, "Do either of you realize how dumb you sound right now?"

Lol I don't get the reference!

But I can tell you that girl was fucking nuts. Pretty sure she had borderline personality disorder. Which doesn't necessarily make someone nuts, but it sure as hell didn't help her.

Ha! You're a young person I take it.
Fucking awful film by the way. Well apart from Brit Ekland.
