Mention feature is a pain

Every time I go to use the mention feature, it seems like the option to auto-select a name doesn't work. Instead of placing the name after the "@" symbol, it will just erase everything and I have to start over. Often, I end up having to just manually type in the quotation marks and the name after the @ symbol.
Am I doing something wrong?

It seems like half the time, when I click the name, instead of placing the name after the @ symbol, the box to pick the name just goes away instead of placing the name there.
So what am I doing wrong.

Please help. I have not been on this forum for a while but my previous username was pgrimes15. The site does not recognize my login now and says my email is an invalid address when I try to retrieve my password (ironically the very email I am using right now). I have re-registered as Grimesy but would prefer to have my old name as I had some kudos and had made a donation. Can you help me with this?.

I’m sure it can be fixed, but it may take an administrator to do it. Be patient, as they don’t come round that often.

I can replicate the issue. It happens during posting from my desktop. If I’m quoting or replying and I @ mention the name breaks and what name I type ends up injected into the quote tag in the reply. Something to do with the tags and code and maintaining cursor focus in how a mention is applied and creates the lookup to user
