I'd suggest that you go read what the "Fermi Paradox", as quoted of Enrico Fermi, really is before you use it as a proof of your cause. Rarity of extraterrestrials is not equivalent to mankind's extinction in some arbitrary time frame.

If you're not interested in studying a world that will end, then save yourself the trouble and stop studying.
If, on the other hand, you actually do want to possess informed opinions and knowledge about a subject, you might want to study much harder than you have been thusfar.
You butchered god, good, and atheism up above for no reason other than your own ignorance. However much time human civilization has left...is how much time human civilization has left, without any regard for which position on the existence of some silly god is true. If we have 500 years, we have 500 years if there's no god, or if there's a god. What god commands is what god commands, which may be good, but may not....and if it isn't, if you use the term "good" as a meaningless arbitrarity for whatever shit falls from the lips of a pixie, or for the evil things the silly god you believe in commands...then your god isn't worth worshiping regardless of whether or not it exists.

The 'great filter' is a speculation on why we haven't detected any alien civilizations. A more reasonable explanation is that extraterrestrial civilizations are just much more rare than some people think. There are still gaps in the Drake Equation, one or more of them may be close to zero. We might just be the first and so far the only technological civilization in this galaxy, for instance.
Speculation (untestable hypothesis) is not a good foundation or support for a position.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
