This reminds me of a story concerning a monk, Thomas Merton (for whom I have a great deal of respect).
Later in his monastic career, Merton became a convinced peacenik who spoke out against the Vietnam war. Being an accomplished author and very influential figure, the Church allowed Merton to travel a lot. Merton was a Trappist. Most Trappist monks spent all their time cloistered in a monastery where no women were allowed to set foot.
Anyway, once Merton went to San Francisco to communicate with other peaceniks about activism for peace. He had a conversation with one peacenik at a coffee shop. This guy said Merton gave him his undivided attention during their conversation, until such time as a beautiful woman passed by, at which point his eyes remained locked on her until she strolled out of sight.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I remember the giant skeletons. First saw them in my dad's email when they were making the rounds.

Pedantic trivia: Crucifixion took many forms, depending on what was available, such as wood and expensive, hand made nails. (which were usually re used)
Exactly what Jesus was nailed to is not clear in the bible. He could have been carrying a pole.

 So true!
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
