You say to people that after they die we all go to the fleet of spaceships that will take humans to some other galaxy and then you sell them positions, like if they don't buy your books/ manuals on how to run a spaceship then they will be ensigns, but if they buy more and take courses then they will be captains and even admirals.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Disappointing theists since 1968!

Many of the farms around where I grew up and the neighbors across the street from us had them. An inspection of the one across the street showed that the globs of concrete placed on the tub were 'decorated' with broken bits of mirror, glass, costume jewelry, marbles...pretty much any random bit of preferable shiny, colorful garbage. The word that comes to mind is 'tacky'. Catholics love their little statues of the BVM and an assortment of other saints. Lots of cars had St. Christopher riding shotgun on the dashboard.
