Speaking in tongues has been finally decoded!! Yes, the language of the holy ghost himself. Here's the translation
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Praying to ancient gods was also equally useless as is to today's gods, but it also had its apologists who blamed you for gods not doing anything

Puritans were really "fun" people to be around

^ I remember after church the people who were so lovey-dovey inside turned into maniacs once they got out of there and into their cars.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Psh, that's just mild aggression. In one moment supplicants are entreated to lift up their hearts, and turn towards their fellow man in love and friendship....and all around the world...not but a few minutes after these necessary services, a significant portion of those supplicants lock and load their magazines and blast their fellow man to shit - an early date with the creator. Going from one activity directly to the next, not even stopping to take a piss.
Churches services..are entertainment. They've never been anything other than entertainment. People get worked up at the money they collect, insist that this is some other thing they are (and have always been) but it's the same thing. We pay to watch people dress up in costumes and tell stories that we can easily digest and just as easily discard. This is the religious economy, it's older than money, and every single human being who's ever witnessed it would recognize it in any time and any iteration.
None of those people turn into anything when they leave a church. They were exactly those people while they were inside of one.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Church services would be more entertaining if the brought back the lions...

They would if it weren't for the cost. They're not in business to lose money.
