There is no point to putting down our enemy to feel better about ourselves.

Putin is extremely well and formally educated in theory and practice of guile, stratagem, and statecraft by the KGB, in a manner we american have become too stupid to realize is even possible, much less desirable in our leaders.   And he is very smart, as well as cunning. 

It is our leader who is neither smart nor educated, has no cunning where advancing national interest is concerned, but plenty of cunning in rallying the dregs of an already very debased American electorate to keep himself in power and able to do further damage.

We should not be putting down Putin to make ourselves feel better about our country and it’s predicament. It won’t help us get out of it, it only makes getting out of it seem, falsely, to be slightly less urgent.

He's also better educated, in a formal, traditional sense, than most heads of state.  He's got a law degree and a PhD in some sort of mining discipline.

Btw.: He speaks german fluently, with only a slight accent. Trump doesnt even english!
