If Cleopatra managed to survive taking in a donkey, she'd be ruined for just about anything else. I've heard of "donkey shows" in Tijuana, but have never observed such a spectacle(?) and have zero interest in seeing it, personally.

Heard that about Catherine the great, but no Cleopatra.   Did Romans want to admit the great Gaius Julius Caesar couldn't do any better than woman who would do donkeys?

Yeah, Cleopatra may or may not have put it about a bit, but as far as anyone actually knows, Caesar was her first, Marc Antony was her second and last. (She married two of her brothers, but that was more of a ceremonial/regnal thing).
