At the neighbour, not the dog, right?

That’s something to consider. Thank you.

Neighbor, neighbor's wife, his kids, interior of his car, then the dog if needed. Great

When I was delivering The Alexandria Times-Tribune I used a squirt gun to similar ends. One guy yelled at me and I told him I could just burn his house down so he'd have to move instead of deterring his dog from biting me. He realized I was sincere.

I used to carry an ammonia squirter to defend against dogs.  In the year I had it, I never used it on a dog.  Used it on two people, though.

A simple condiment bottle filled with a noxious liquid works a treat. I kept a ketchup bottle in my bike basket, labeled "battery acid". Never had much trouble after I started doing that.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and point out what just might maybe sort of possibly be a flaw in that plan:

It just occurred to me that your ketchup bottle might have been intended for people (blame it on insomnia).  That being the case, I withdraw the objection.

To OP as much as I would ever hate to hurt an animal if the dog attacks you, you’ve got every right to bring it down with extreme prejudice. It’s the owners fault. If he can’t control his animals.

Hey, it's worth a pass-along.

The contents for the dogs, the label for "due caution". People knew I wasn't one for moderate responses, so they figured "Yeah, that's probably battery acid."
