Err,so you'll feel at home?Tiger

I was a member of the Australian Labor Party for over 25 years.I resigned when they made that thug Mark Latham leader, but still voted for the party until Gillard took over.

The last time I voted FOR a political party was in 1975.Since that time, I've always voted AGAINST the bigger shower on offer.Coincidentally, that has always been the Liberals(conservatives) However, after Gillard took over, I honestly could not decide which was worse. So,it was "a pox on both your houses" and I voted for the Greens.

Apparently more than a few people felt the same;the result was hung parliament. Labor governs due to an unholy alliance with of The Greens and Independents.

Not at all!! YuK!!

Aussies do I think value the individual, as long as he's not up himself or overtly selfish, and "sticks by his mates".Loyalty is highly valued here,at least in my circle.

Which is MY definition of "A Fair Go"

Pissed ME right off!! Didn't vote Greens because of the allegiances to the labor party so voted Aust. Sex Party...no not for the name but they made more sense than the others

It's all about a healthy balance between individualism and communism
Actually individualism and communism is not mutually exclusive, on the contrary communism is an individualist ideology.

Really? Gee,you learn something every day here. That certainly wasn't the impression I got from reading"Capital" at university. Me and my teachers must be really stupid. Thank you so much for correcting my unforgivable misunderstanding.

Oh,just so I don't get all confused again, could you perhaps give me a broad outline of your very different interpretation of Communism, citing Marx where appropriate? About 3000 words should be enough for a simple outline.Angel Cloud
Stupid? I don't think so. Biased by bourgeois values? probably.
firstly, forming an idea on communism only based on Marx is faulty. You would miss Leninism, Stalinism, Trotskyism, maoism, Rosa Luxemburg, Frankfurt School, Anarcho-Communism...etc (I'm an anarcho-communist btw)
Communism is not a society everyone is sacrifice for some greater good, but a society everyone work for self-improvement
But more importantly marxism is based on indivual rights, right to live humanly, right not be exploited. Only through these pseudo liberties that bourgeois society presents can be achieved. People enslaved by property can never be free.

Your Result: Libertarian
This quiz has defined you as a Libertarian. Keep in mind, this ideology can be applied to the right or left in the social sense. You believe in a minimal role of the government in solving problems and believe that the "Free market" can handle almost all economic situations.
Result Breakdown:
85% Libertarian
66% Conservative
15% Liberal
10% Fascist/Radical Right
4% Social Democrat
0% Communist/Radical Left

THAT is actually saying the same thing and is an ad hominem attack. (You'd agree with me,if you were unbiased like me) Fair enough I suppose I started it;,my comments were sarcasm.Cool Shades

As it turns out,my background is working-class-bog-Irish.

The basis of Communism is Marxism, which is not an ideology of individualism. There is a difference between protecting the rights of the individual, as Marxism does [in theory] and focusing on individual rights at the expense of the common good, as Libertarianism does in practice,or at least the American version..

I think we will need to agree to differ.

Enslaved by property? Are you fucking kidding me? Help! help! my quarter acre section is holding me prisoner!

Seriously, how does me being required to give up all of my hard earned resources impact your right not to be exploited? And why can't you provide for yourself? If I'm more productive than you, work harder and get more in return then why the fuck should I give that up so you can have more stuff? I'm all for helping the people who are unable to provide for themselves, but as for all the lazy fucks who refuse to do their share, or the inefficient workers who just aren't worth that much but want more I say fuck them, I work hard for what I have and I spend a damn good amount of my time increasing my skills so my time is worth more, If you don't want to do the same then don't expect to have as much.

Your need to own property enslaves you. Why would you need more stuff in a society everything is free?

Tell these to the people working more than 12 hours a day and barely feed themselves.

Nothing is ever "free". Not in any sense; not ever. Not even in lovely hippie / commie country. At the end of the day, someone, somewhere, pays for it.
