My opinion on economists is that economics 101 teaches you to convince others to trust you with their money as the #1 lesson. Everything else just involves using phrasing and complex mathmatics to accomplish this goal.
Politicians tend to skimp on the math part, however.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...

I'm no real fan of economists - and my friend currently works in homebuilding where he's a hard-ass inspector and neurotic quality-control supervisor. I like when he's helping the guys out and strips down to the wife-beater and low-slung jeans. Mmmmm.
Anyway!
The point being that communism is bull. As I told theVoid-babe and Ryft last night, it's a system for people who don't want to work or who never really have worked.

Of course not. I guess that''s why virtually every country immediately adopted a classic Keynesian approach instead of letting the market sort itself out. 
They were already doing the Keynseian thing, the continuation of borrow and spend in the form of stimulus packages was the same thing Bush did to prevent the nasdaq bubble causing a deep recession, it's exactly what you're supposed to do under Keynesian economics, but all you achieve by borrowing large portions of GDP is to delay the inevitable, especially when you're borrowing in an environment where the interest rate is being forced down to keep the cashflow running. There is no doubt that stimulus packages provide a short term relief, but the long term problem becomes even worse - It's akin to a junky having another fix to ease the pain - His withdrawals are going to be even worse if/when he comes down from the high and he's going to need another bigger fix to get himself back to par - If he doesn't come down at some point he's just going to crash, that's exactly what will happen to the value of the dollar if this horseshit continues - It's high time the global community found a different reserve currency.
Why didn't they let the market sort out the bullshit? Because while that would ultimately fix the gross imbalances in the economy it would have lead to a deeper and longer recession than the cash flooded stimulus and that is the sort of thing that gets politicians voted out of office - People don't tend to react too well to hard medicine, just look at the riots in the debt ridden European nations to see how people react to being told that they are worth less than they believed and now they have to start cutting the fat to pay back the massive debt that's accumulated.

Are you sure? I would expect Beck to be in the bottom right hand side of the board. He wants the govt to barely exist. The top right would have him in the place of people like Hitler. If I am reading this board correctly:
Top left = communism
Top right = Fascism
Bottom left = Social democrat
Bottom right = libertarian
Beck says he is a conservative libertarian. That should put him in the bottom right sector.

LOL, good point. I read the communist manifesto, and I agreed with many things he said in it. Especially him comming down hard on America for slavery, treating minorites as chatle, and children working in sweat shops. But I do not agree with taking everything from everyone and redistributing it again. I do, on the other hand, feel that corporations should be kept on a leash to ensure the return to the society that helped them become so rich. Since when do corporations get to make great off of society but expect a free ride by not paying taxes and having endless tax loop holes and govt welfare/no-bid-contracts.
Flat tax is nothing more than theivery from the non-rich as it claims that everyone should pay the same percentage to the govt..but when it comes to food and shelter the rich are much better off.
If you make $500 a month, then 25% tax means the difference of barely making rent or not.
If you make $500,000 a month, then 25% tax may look like alot, but they can afford tax lawyers and good food and everything else.
I say if we should go to flat tax, then prices of goods should ALSO be based on percentages of your earnings. A gallon of milk costs $3.00 wether you make $300 a month or $3,000 a month.
Look at Florida..they turned the progressive tax completely upside down..so if you are mid class, you pay around 14% or so, but if you are rich you pay around 2%. How come the rich can benefit from society but cant put money back into our millitary or social services?
Its rude if you ask me.

I'd like to believe that there was someone out there wise enough to make those decisions for everyone, and that everyone would do their fair share of the work to ensure there was enough to distribute.
Fortunately when I was growing up I realized that some thoughts belonged in the realm of Disney, and others were more worthy of this little place I like to call "reality".
One of the great things about America's system, rail against the finer points of it as you will, is that it recognizes that no one person (or even one group) for an indefinite amount of time knows what's best for everyone...or even the majority of people.

Kind of like how laissez faire capitalism is bull because it's a system designed to allow 1% of the popluation of a nation to own virtually everything (and everyone.)
