I would be inclined to agree were not for the debacle after Iowa. After he won that contest he didn't seem to get the usual media attention. Nobody was really sure who won and it is rather suspect that other presidential campaigns put money into the development of the caucus software. Mayor Pete was allowed to declare himself the winner prematurely (he got fewer votes and I thought the Democrats hated people with fewer votes winning, e.g. 2016 Presidential Election).

Bernie cancelled the Mississippi rally to do Michigan instead. If you want an example of Bernie sabotaging himself, this is one example. If he, after all this, still doesn't get why African Americans prefer Biden/Hillary over him, no wonder he's losing.

People must still like Joe Biden because they are horribly uninformed. Joe Biden spoke a Strom Thurmond's memorial service for crying out loud! Joe Biden opposed bussing, hence the segregationists like Mr. Thurmond loved him. But oh well, "have to vote blue, no matter who!"
EDIT: Or, he's a radical idea, maybe Democrats aren't as concerned about xenophobia and racism as they claim to be? Donald Trump says something racist, "oh yeah, we need to rally the base". Meanwhile, Joe Biden keeps saying outlandish things are we are just meant to look the other way and pretend there's nothing wrong with him.

Bad mistake to imply a significant portion of the Democratic base is horribly uninformed. And they do care about racism. In fact, what you said may arguably be a racist thing to say, and they're sick of hearing this shit from some Bernie supporters.

It what a lot of people suspect: Mr. Obama only chose Joe Biden as his vice president to calm the fears of white people, so I'd say its far to call a sizable chunk of the Democratic base racist. Did you know that, for example, New York is the state with the more segregated schools? That's right, schools in a northern "liberal" state are more segregated than in any state in The South. In fact, Joe Biden (i.e. today's Democratic establishment) is exactly the sort of person Martin Luther King Jr. warned us about. I could also go on about the 1992 Crime Bill and how that has negatively impacted the lives of millions of minorities, because the millions of Joe Biden supporters do seem to have a really, really short memory. Joe Biden bragged about a 1992 crime bill’s harsh penalties, as seen in this video:
FLASHBACK: In 1992, Biden Said His Crime Bill Would Do Everything But Hang People For Jaywalking
What Martin Luther King Jr. had to say about moderates:
Just listen to how this Biden surrogate treats Nina Turner (she also removed her subsequent Twitter apology for referring to Nina as a quote: "angry black woman"):

Hillary Rosen was wrong to whitesplain to Nina Turner, and her interpretation of what Martin Luther King Jr. said was also wrong.
But you know what else is true? African Americans still prefer Biden over Bernie because they trust him more, even knowing that Biden has had his racist moments. They know who and what they're voting for, contrary to what some Bernie supporters keep implying.

As sad as it is, 'Murica just isn't ready for Sanders.

Joe Biden's entire campaign has been "look at my African American friend" . I have seen very little policy substance from him. I think there more than simple momentary flashes of racism.
When Donald Trump was at a rally and pointed to a man and said "look at my African American over there" , people rightly cringed. I didn't see the same sense of outrage when Joe Biden did the same thing because all is campaign is "hey, Obama liked me" (if you can remember those adverts). I see the establisment and elites trying their best to hide Joe Biden's flaws because they are afraid of real change. So yes, people are dangerously underinformed about Joe Biden because that's what the media wants.
