An Acritical Political Hypothitical

An Acritical Political Hypothitical
(sorry about that, by ‘hypothetical’ didn’t quite work)

There seems to be a sort of commonality here between Sanders and Biden supporters: both groups seem to think the other guy is unelectable. So...

Suppose you could draft anyone you wanted who would be a shoe-in to defeat Trump. It doesn’t have to be someone in or dropped out of the race, it doesn’t have to be a Democrat, it doesn’t even have to be someone from the oh-so-fun world of professional politics. Who would you pick and why?

(We assume for the purpose of this hypothitical that Sanders suffered a fatal heart attack and Biden fell down a flight of stairs while rushing to his aid and also joined the Choir Invisible).

The Dems have had years to figure out who to run and how.

I am at a loss. We have had too many elections where the choice is the lesser of two evils.

Sad state of affairs. smh

Well if it's any consolidation many conservatives are flipping their shit over Biden too, calling him "comrade Biden" because:

Quote:Biden also would curb tax breaks for the fossil-fuel and real-estate industries and boost tax incentives for renewable energy and retirement savings.

And you know how conservative religious people feel about the holy fossil fuels industry.

Further

Quote: Biden has offered a number of tax proposals focused on raising taxes on wealthy individuals and corporations, though his proposals are not as aggressive as those put forth by fellow candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

The former vice president has proposed rolling back President Trump's tax-rate cuts for individuals making more than $400,000, capping the value of itemized deductions at 28 percent, taxing capital gains at the same rate as ordinary income for people earning more than $1 million a year, taxing unrealized capital gains at death and making earnings above $400,000 subject to Social Security payroll taxes.

When it comes to businesses, Biden would raise the corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent, create a 15-percent minimum tax on the income companies report on their financial statements and raise a minimum tax on corporations' foreign earnings from 10.5 percent to 21 percent.

TPC estimated that Biden's proposals would raise $4 trillion, or 1.5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), from 2021 to 2030, and another $6.2 trillion from 2031 to 2040.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Maybe I wasn't clear.  I'll try it a little differently.

Assume that under no circumstances will Trump, Biden or Sanders win in November.  If you could pick ANYONE to be your next president, who would it be?

I am out of ideas.  A little beaten down by the shit show that has been the last 3+ years.

I'm old - maybe I won't live long enough to see just how fucked this cluster will become.  <sigh>

There would be selected survivors.

Anyway, the nukes wouldn't get everyone.
