This whole Coronavirus is really making people sad and scared.

I wonder if during this time of fear, worry and anxiety, people might turn to Christianity in droves.

As in, they might dust off their bible and search for answers in it. Maybe they will cry out to God their father and beg Jesus to save them from the plague...

I hope that is the case..

One of the earliest known cases of COVID in my city (DC) was a Catholic priest, who of course touched the Eucharist that he placed on the tongue and/or the hands of 500 church-goers. I don't wish the virus upon anybody, but you have to admit the irony is hilarious.

In an earlier statement, the ruling body of the Orthodox Church had stated that coronavirus cannot be transmitted through Holy Communion, even though doctors and experts say that it can be transmitted through saliva. Last Sunday, many churches all over the country were full of people queueing to receive Holy Communion.

I think we know why it spread so fast through southern Europe...

Given that religious services across the world are being shut down because they are prime breeding spots for potential coronavirus (what with their being large gatherings of people, which can easily help the virus spread), I doubt it. Honestly, flocking to anything just isn't people are willing to do in the middle of a pandemic when ANYONE could become Typhoid Mary.

I was watching the news about a local woman who tested positive for the virus and I guess she was at church services a few days prior, so they were interviewing the pastor. He was talking about how they were cancelling all church services and how they are having the entire church cleaned and disinfected and a number of other preventive measures that the church was taking, after listing all of that stuff he ends the interview by saying "we are just putting it in god's hands".
