And the Democrats currently have plans to go ahead with their own convention. Why isn’t that ‘really fucking frightening’ as well?

Link? I ask because that is not exactly what I am hearing in the news. My understanding is that it is still up in the air. Not changing the date isn't the same as saying, "We are going to do it no matter what." My understanding is while they may have not changed the date, they never said they were unwilling to change it as conditions change.
The GOP is acting like "We don't give a fuck if 1 million people die , we are holding this convention come hell or high water."
The vibe I am getting from the DNC is, different, "We are hopeful we can still do it, but are open to change if need be."
Ok you got me, and yes, this is very dissapointing.

I hold out hope that they can rethink it. I think they have more of an ability to step back if need be. I simply hope the DNC isn't going to get stupid and try to compete with GOP stupidity.

It wasn’t meant to be a ‘gotcha’. Sorry if it came off that way.

I didn't take it as a "gotcha". Sorry if I came across that way.
You gave me pause, and I thought, "Oh shit", so I did a google search, and damned if you were not correct. I posted the link to say you were correct.
But I still think between the two parties Dems are far more likely to step back than the GOP to do the right thing. But this does bother me because long term, even outside this virus, it has always disappoints me when Dems try to compete with them, instead of standing up to them.
Dems lose a lot of elections trying to compete on their narrative.
That is just as frightening too.

So if the Dems go ahead with the DNC - and the GOP cancels theirs - we can count on you voting ( R )?

This isn't a fucking game of chess. Don't want any party taking needless risks, and unfortunately right now, it seems everyone is in a rush to put Wall Street over lives.
Both parties want the economy to be open, I do too. But only one party is for now, leading the charge to get stupid.
But if you must know, if Romney were running against Trump, and not Biden, and those were my only choices, I would vote for Romney. I was proud of him standing up to Trump, and despite being in a deeply conservative state, he has implemented some very liberal policies, like tackling homelessness.
Dems in congress since Reagan, gave up after he successfully busted the air traffic control unions. And ever since instead of standing up to Republicans, we far to often stupidly let them control the narrative, and let them call us commies and fascists, we stupidly back off and try to sound like them.
I simply don't want the Democrats in congress to repeat that pattern, especially now, with this virus.

I guess OLB’s question was harder than I thought.

No, it’s about political conventions. Try to keep up.
