No shit.

A simple "no" would have sufficed.

I took a nap.  I missed the U-turn in the thread.
Not to worry.

It doesn't actually go anywhere.

church has a purpose, and that is for the protection and fellowship of believers. God is in church but as you said he is everywhere else as well. it is simpler easier to connect with God when there are others to help. but again God can be found on your own. just know God is not the only spiritual being looking for lost souls.

I mean, come on, what are we supposed to do - go round bringing meds to shut-ins, or help out at a food bank?

Sound kinda commie, if you ask me.

where 2 people meet in the name of Christ is a church.

Your effort has been a failure of epic proportions.

Church is the primary source of indoctrination, especially for the young. Of course it's essential.

actually the class room is. this is the proof:

Said trump won because the "poorly educated" got out and voted.

now think back to all the negitive ads and campaign mud slinging. they used all the key hate words. you know the words that 'educated people are taught to be 'triggered by'.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvbMLti5S3Y
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbCTfeLmneI

words like racists, misogynist, xenophobe, and the list doesn't stop there think of all the fake news all of it combined should have triggered the nation to vote the other way. but what they are saying is not enough people who voted for trump were indoctrinated enough to be triggered/turn off all reason and thought and simply hate.

all the bigotry and hate this country was known for in the past is still here it's just been disciplined to be focuses to those trigger words, so educated people can get their evil hate on and not feel immoral doing it. That is the lie of education, because who ever has the power to mass media identify an individual as those triggers then the educated should stop thinking and hate..

Thankfully we have not all been indoctrinated yet. Some of us can and still do think for ourselves.

this is the real reason the 'dims' want to keep the country shut down. so biden can stay hidden and not feel like he must do rallies like trump

It can't be both ways.   You either accept a belief uncritically, meaning you just accept it and put no thought into it or you think for yourself.

You have to pick a side even though I know being on both sides helps cover your ass.

RE: Church is not essential
I go to a church regularly. It now has virtual services and a virtual coffee hour. It works quite well.

It doesn't make sense for them to re-open. Many church members are at high-risk of death from COVID. Singing in church or talking in coffee-hour are extremely high-risk activities.

You could ban all singing, have people wear masks, and cancel the coffee-hour. If the church is Christian (mine isn't) and does communion, they could have individual cups. That would probably make is reasonably safe. But it would be a worse experience than the virtual service and coffee-hour we have now.

Trump demanding churches be open is political demagoguery. The Republicans have been trying to brand themselves as the Christian Party, and the Democrats as the "Muslim and Atheist Party". Obviously any Democratic governor that doesn't want churches to open must "hate Christians".

My opinion is that any church that opens, without major restrictions on what goes on in the services, should be held criminally libel if they kill their members.

The Catlicker churches in this area are holding mass this Sunday. Evidently the God that didn't prevent this pandemic will protect GOOD CATHOLICS from this pandemic.

God is real. You're right he can be experienced anywhere at any time, again you're right Christians need no special place to experience Him. You're completely wrong with your last sentence, first it's not a fact it's only a place of socialization, though we socialize while attending services, second it's much more it is a place where those who want to know and learn about God can and do, we also eat lunches sometimes but never before thanking God for the food He blessed us with. Yes we communicate with Him also. Your idea of services not being essential falls on it's face, and besides those few things, the saved people are the church so to have church we must gather together.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
