About BLM

Quote:We are expansive. We are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. We also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with us along the way, we must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities.

It seems to me that some members of this forum are against having allies, even though the mission statement of the movement is all inclusive. Allies, after all, should not be turned away or dismissed in any way. Refusing an ally is merely the selfishness of pride clouding reason, after all.

I think long time members here know what a huge critic of every religion in the world I am. But yea, There is a huge difference between hating a claim, and the person making the claim. It is true this website is geared toward's atheists. But long before the internet ever existed atheists have stood with theists and minorities, not because they agree with everything they claim, but because any decent human being is going to stand up for human rights.

A. Phillip Randolph was a black atheist, and one of Martin Luther King Jr's biggest supporters. Not because he believed in a God, but because he believed in human rights.

I often make the argument that God is just a mythological Character sure. But given the choice between silence, or standing up for the likes of Martin Luther King Jr, or the likes of Malala, or Anne Frank, it is never wrong to support human rights.

There is no such thing as a utopia, not even for atheists. And on a planet of 7 billion not even atheists will get a religion free world. Religion should never be free from scrutiny or blasphemy, but every human should always put human rights first.

Atheists need theist allies, not because we believe in a God, but because humans still only have one planet to live on. Atheists can be tough on religious claims, but we cannot be as so rigid as to separate ourselves and isolate ourselves.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

We keep acting like the resistance groups in the video, we all but guarantee that nothing gets done and that the forces of evil win.

BLM reminds me of Extinction Rebellion (XR) in some ways. I was aware of XR for quite some time before joining them (I've now left BTW, it's a long story). I only joined XR once they had some actual concrete, finite objectives, and weren't just screaming "THIS SUCKS!" a lot. If BLM has any actual concrete, finite objectives they're sure keeping quiet about them....maybe they can't think of any because systematic racism in the West is largely nothing but a work of their collective imaginations.

The danger, even for atheists are the same as theists.

black lives matter are profiteers. they deal in raising money. that's why they go after every police incident and 'n' word, but do nothing about black on black crime. black on black crime is not a money maker - it's not profitable. in reality, blm are just the strong-arm forces for the democrats. they are allowed to shake down and coerce people and companies for donations in the name of social justice, but that money goes directly to orgs like actblue, which is the democrats. so basically, they are using mob tactics on the people and companies of this country and some stupid voters not only do not see that, but they go along with it.

Oh noes, how come no one is saying anything about black people doing bad things? It's always about white people being the bad ones! No fair!

And OP, don't be sneaky. The person you're remarking on has every reason to doubt white liberals as allies. The many posts in these forums lend credence to such doubt.
