[Serious] Why defecation?
#1
Why defecation?
God created all the animals, right? So he created all their systems, right? So the best system for taking in energy and disposing of waste involves shit, right? Nothing better occurred to an omnipotent omniscient being?

And I know there will be a lot of "yeah, butt!" posts. Please prove your points.

RE: Why defecation?
Just one more case of a ‘perfect’ Creator coming up with a less than perfect system.

Additional examples abound.

Because.

Shit happens.

RE: Why defecation?
This defecation issue does have a certain, erm, resonance, and it's occurred to me before as being a particularly salient example of "WTF god, why?!" In reality though it is of course just one of a zillion "WTF god, why?!" issues.

I first asked this question at RDF back in '08. Never since received a good answer.

It's actually good system if you use the poop wisely.

No, it's a bad system because millions and billions of creature with never use it "wisely", they'll just shit on something and move on.

RE: Why defecation?
I don’t think the question is whether it’s ‘good’ system, but why a god with the ability to do otherwise would create such a system at all. It would have been just as easy for an omnipotent creator to set up a system in which all organisms would be 100% efficient and not need to excrete at all.

Millions of tons of pollutants generated every year is not a 'good' system.

Yeah, I get that. But even if fecal matter weren’t both a pollutant and a disease vector, the process of excretion would still be a poor design, due to the wasted energy. TheGreat Tree Of Life could have been designed without it.
