RE: Name your poison.
Vodka, straight.

But preferably Absolut.

We keep a bottle of Ketel One in the house. Ellen likes an occasional complicated drink and I use it mainly to make extracts for cooking.

Haven't tried it, to be honest.

I rarely drink spirits but I developed a fondness for Absolut years ago.

I'll see if the cousins can run up a batch. They lost a still last time they tried. "In Arkansas Russia drinks you!"

Now I'm picturing you and your family as Dukes if Hazzard (TV show, not the movie that I've never seen).

I bought Svedka on sale because of a good review. I didn't like it, so I bought a big bottle of Ketel One. I hear Absolut is gross.

I started drinking Stolychnaya back in the late 70's before Russian (then Soviet) vodkas were imported.

One advantage of working at USCG MSO Anchorage (Captain of the Port Western Alaska) and doing boardings on Communist Bloc vessels that made port calls.

The Russians always fed us dinner. The "water glass" - full of vodka.

Smile

We always returned the favor by bringing them American cigarettes...

And if you have had neither, fine, but plain whiskey to me tastes like gasoline. At least this takes the edge off of it.

So you like whiskey as long as it doesn't taste like whiskey?

Just a couple years ago, one of my friends, who was the physical therapist for my late mother,  his wife baked brussel sprouts, not boiled, but cooked in the oven. They covered them in spices and cheese. I normally hate boiled greens outside of peas. So even with whiskey, it depends. The normal straight version? NO! But the way "Skrewball" didi it with their flavor, I love it.

That’s what I said.

And peas are not greens.
