But in all seriousness, I am gobsmacked. I literally was posting another thread of songs I like. The news today I was watching hadn't mentioned his death.

Eddie smoked and drank so much he was on borrowed time.  Nevertheless, it hasn't hit me yet.  I'll be sad at some point.  I loved those first four albums.

I credit Randy Rhodes (still sad about that one) as a greater influence on 80s guitar.  Go back and listen to the Sweet for an earlier prototype of hair metal.  Heck, Bowie wrote the spec and created the look in '72.  (See Ziggy)
Bowie was the man!  He was such an innovator.

My middle dog has a jagged blaze on his head.  I got him right after Bowie died...his name is Ziggy.

Even with Bowie. He got famous in the 70s, but most of his music that really put him on the top was in the 80s.

You are full of shit.  Look him up.  He was a star in the 60s and stayed one over decades.

I didn't say he didn't make waves prior. I said he peaked in the 80s.

Tina Turner made marks in the 60s and 70s too, but she peaked in the 80S.

Nonsense.

Yes you got me.

Music is static, and is always measured in terms of decades ending in zeros.

Just because you are stuck in the 80s doesn't mean everything happened then.

You should really try adulthood. It's past time for you to start being a grownup.

Actually that is my point.

The 40s lead to the 50s, the 50s lead to the 60s, the 60s lead to the 70s, the 70s lead to the 80s. And the 80s lead to the 90s, and the 90s lead to the 2000s, and the 2000s lead to the 2010s, and here we are.

But there is no cut off date based on an "0" in the date. Overlap is why music changes.

The only point is that you are stuck in the 80s.  Mentally you are still a teenager.

Yes I am stuck in the 80s.. Most people are stuck in their own decade.. If you ask my late mother what she thought of the music I listened to, what do you think she would say? Pretty sure she had her own favorites for her time. And she was born in 1933. What do you think she would think of your music. not just mine.

One of the songs that was popular for her time was this.

If you are going to crap on me for my tastes, then never sing Happy Birthday to anyone. And Happy Birthday goes back further than any of us.
