Um no, I rest my case.

I’m confused (kind of my default state). How is it that a song released by a band that started in 1972 qualifies as 80s music, but a song released in 2020 by an 80s musician does not?

If they put CRAP in with rock and roll I'm glad I never went there.

"Crap" is nothing more than a food critic.

What you consider "rock" has ALWAYS had multiple influences. Even Elvis had influences.

If you don't like rap, or you don't like pop. Nothing changes the fact that music has a common past. Elvis would not have gotten his fame if it were not for gospel music, banjo music, rockabilly. I personally dont like Elvis. But the same music I will defend tooth and nail today, has roots in the same music he got popular from.

But even ABBA MADE IT to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame...

I never was a huge VH fan but as a guitar player who started in that era... I don't count Eddie amongst my influences but there's some iconic deep tracks from VH1 that I still love to (attempt to) play. 65 is too young.

Yes, sure they did. But I missed it. I was too busy watching the orange turd in the news saying, "Hold my beer" going home from the hospital too early.

When I got home from school in the 2nd grade, there was an LP on the RCA console with a note from my grandmother.  She had been to Texarkana and stopped by on her way home to Magnolia.  The note said, "They didn't have any Kate Smith."  (Aw, dang)  "So I got you Liberace."

I wore out that album.  Mostly, Moonlight Sonata.  Listen to it, to the Symphony 7 movement 4, to Egmont Overture.  Beethoven, along with predecessors Vivaldi and Bach, was metal, among other things.  Influences have greater reach than decades.  Listen to Dio's work on Deep Purple's Highway Star, then listen to Bach.

Eddie wasn't the first to tap, but he certainly became the poster boy for the technique.  So he's here too:

Kind of like BB King and left hand vibrato - he didn’t invent it, but sure as hell raised it to the standard everyone tried to meet.

I saw BB King live with the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Kenny Wayne Shepherd with Double Trouble opening.  It was 2002.  I love 2000s music.
