I did join FB recently to connect with some people in my high school graduating class, but they obviously care about reconnecting as much as I used to, since there are about 40 people who are so interested. I've friended ONE person so far. We were pretty tight in high school and after. One other person I sent a friend request to found Jesus not long after we graduated HS, and we'll probably not reconnect, because he knew my opinion even then. You moving to Parler? I've heard its great if you are into alt-right ideas. (November 15, 2020 at 11:38 am)Rhizomorph13 Wrote:(November 14, 2020 at 2:35 am)Sal Wrote: Good. The ageing 'social' media platforms, like Facebook and Twitter (it is one, despite all those nice concise topical messages), are attempting to cling unto their userbase like a crazy bitch with no self-worth on her trophy husband, and they're already doing some of their 'influencer' shit themselves. If they keep it up, I'm just gonna delete my accounts and go to the new 'hip' place, myself, and they are testing my patience. You trying to be funny?

Yes, and also mentioning a new social media option. I think it is crazy how people are in a silo on many of the popular social media apps but now there is a purpose built app to seclude conservatives even more. It is eye-rolling for sure. I would like a global market of 'ideas' just as much as the second guy, but let's be real here; echo-chambers collapse - naturally - from their very design. If you have any place, be it a town square with some fool standing on a wooden box shouting his innanites out into an unsuspecting crowd that has the unfortunate whereto to pass the crazy person standing on a box within earshot of his cracked voice know very well what I'm getting at: no-fucking-body wants to hear this shit unchallenged, compared to an actual debate of any caliber, anywhere. That is the death knell for ALL echo-chambers, no matter if it's Parler, BitChute, IWannaFuckMyRedNeckSister ... who cares. The very lack of genuine discourse means they'll die under their own weight. I've - personally - seen this phenomena time and time again, I even noticed this while in my little excursion into the right-wing pipeline while I was, mentally, in a very dark place ... but that's a story for another time. What's Evil about these fucking bullshit echo-chambers is the manufactured "discourse", that I'm now seeing in the battlefields; they put up some fucking strawman and beat the shit out of it with words, imagery & even vids in an uncontrolled frenzy of ... I'd like to say English, but it's so far removed from the English language that it reminds me more of an elevated & proforma circus show, frothing at the mouth psychos, than anything else; the people behind all the main headlines are exactly the same players you'd expect also in the more popular 'social' platforms; Facebook, Twitter & YouTube. But their transparency is their down-fall, if you know where to look; anyone, and I do mean ANYONE, that even hints at going to some other platform, like those I've already mentioned, than there's a high probability they're like the same fucking crazy person standing, within earshot, of the passing crowd on a wooden box in a town square. --- What to do? Make a genuine global market of 'ideas', it's that simple. The best players for this are probably, unfortunately, Google and Microsoft, and not fucking Twitter, YouTube or Facebook's little shell game, fueled by capitalistic incentives. Haven't you noticed the difference between these 3 different platforms and how they operate (if you're familiar with them)? Wanna know why Myspace failed? It's common knowledge, but I'll restate it (I used Myspace myself for years, before Facebook became a thing), they were overwhelmed by the sheer aggressiveness and, sad to say, structure of their competitors for fingers and eyeballs. This article from The Guardian from year 2015 is pretty good at going in-depth, if ya wanna know better. Google+ fucked up in a similar manner, but just more drawn out more, due to the whole failure of, again, genuine discourse. You wanna know my, not-so-brilliant, idea? Get Microsoft & Google to fling shit at each other. Like a fucking global gladiator arena where 2 titans duke it out, only to meet again, next week. I don't care if they use actual physical combatants in some moronic WWE setting, a football match, whatever. Just that they HAVE MOTHERFUCKING GENUINE DISCOURSE. Ya feel me? --- My only contention, after all this fucking stupid post, is a long-winded way of saying: don't copy the methods of these echo-chambered morons, like those ideologues at Parler or BitChute. . P.S. I was listening to this banger while I wrote this reply: Really knocks my socks off.

Echo chambers frequently employ controlled opposition, psuedo-criticism, or outright straw. If people won't listen to something without the perception that it's being critically presented - an echo chamber will provide that service in order to retain it's captives. Fair and Balanced.
Recently, a white supremacist echo chamber used actual skepticism outlets in order to create this impression. They didn't even have to make it up in house, relying on the incompetence of the presenters who had otherwise been competent or had a history of credible content. Thus, the alt right was born.

I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
BTW, it's over until it's over. Georgia has a runoff election to deal with, control of the Senate pends.

The PM of Canada and MPs overwhelmingly voted in favor of inviting Joe Biden to address Parliament when the pandemic subsides. Just more proof the worlds moved on.
https://globalnews.ca/news/7466044/joe-b...ial-visit/ I remember when Obama addressed Parliament. It was a good speech But JFK was the best by far
