We don’t really have that issue here. When our prime minister visits a town, people generally just walk over to the barbecue.

Then again, we haven’t had six of our national leaders shot, which may account for the difference.

Here there has to be massive security, large groups of supporters, large groups of protestors, smaller groups of people who want a glimpse at celebrity...and all the usual folks just trying to get through their day.  Oh - and the press...lots and lots of press so that the 8 people who weren't there in person can have a play-by-play and photos from every angle.

I find it funny how some Americans talk shit about following every move of the British royalty yet will fall all over themselves for politicians.
