Once a person is in power they invariably need checks and balances to assure that they work for the good of the nation and not just whatever whim guides their actions.

On another note I don't know why people find it so hard to read OLB's posts and come to the conclusion that he genuinely dislikes both parties. The OP here is simply a statement of fact but people get all wacky and start spinning bullshit out of straw!

Oh well, it looks that way to me on most of the posts here where people bring up old grievances instead of addressing the OP. I've done it too so I'm certainly not innocent.

Thank you.

As I see it - the party loyalists are offended by reality.

They WANT there to be less guns (and theoretical less gun crime) - but history shows that a Democratic win (Or even the prospect of)  in the Presidential election causes a wave of gun buying. (By Democrats as well... It's foolish to say it is just ( R )s).

So their actions ( voting ( D ) )has an effect they don' t like - increased gun sales....

And yes. It amuses me.

Holy crap, once again, stop blaming Democrats for the fear marketing of the companies and gun lobbies.

Exactly what is the alternative? Say nothing, do nothing? Nope, that isn't going to work. Anymore than never criticizing Islam will stop their zealots.

What needs to be challenged are the CEOs and lobbies. Car companies, big tobacco had lobbies to prevent change, they were challenged and eventually lost, and the were forced to change, and we didn't become a fascist state as a result of those challenges. I am sick of people coddling that industry. It should have no special rights or more rights than any other product sold in this country.

I agree, so the firearm CEOs and gun lobbies need to stop repeating their fear marketing.

Now unless you can pony up with a different solution, other than "do nothing, say nothing" all you are doing is protecting the bad players.

Jesus Christ..

What fear marketing?

Where are you seeing this?

For a marketing scheme to have the effect on the market that we see ( better than double rifle sales) you would have saturation advertising.

Where is it?

I don' t get any emails from gun and ammo manufacturers. I don' t see any on TV. I don' t get robocalls on the phone.

Reason? They don' t NEED to advertise. They can' t keep up with demand. Advertising would be a waste of money.

The whole idea is a figment of your imagination.

You wouldn't have to look hard to find it. Even more inexplicably, your own silly thread is premised on how well the political marketing of fear works to increase sales.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No it is not. THE NRA for 40 years has scared the shit out of gun owners by shouting, "They're coming for your guns" and they get paid lots of money by the industry to sell that fear. Now, you cant use the term "panic buying" YOUR WORDS, if that fear marketing didn't work.

Used to be menacing rapists and muggers - that was the productive ad line for "home defense" buyers. Nowadays they use antifa.

Bullshit.

You have NOTHING... You claim there is this big conspiracy afoot "marketing fear" - but you fail to show a single example.

You sound just like a fundie who KNOWS that " god is real"....

....

Gun owners don' t need marketing for the obvious.

Your party wants to restrict guns and gun owners.

Man up. Admit it.
