Any ideas for DIY archaeology set props you could share?

We talking about staging an entire scene or just a conversation item?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Well, I doubt I’ve got any ideas that the might Pinterest doesn’t contain...but the way I’d do it...

Make a bunch of coil and pinch pits, then break them. Flake stone to produce a pile of waste ( don’t worry about a product but that’s a plus if you could manage). Place inorganic artifacts in implied relationships to each other and what would be long deteriorated organic elements. Toss chicken bones down. Pile small brush and set the whole put display on fire- brush away some char, and apply a red or rust colored pigment. Sprinkle sparingly with weathered beads.

Add a tent and a screen sifter, maybe grid stakes and line, leave a trowel and a small brush, set of dental picks - the usual, lol.

A still picture of that would make for a pretty good convo piece, too, IMO. The Wife and I were talking about it this am, be fun for her and the kids to play with her new camera.

I assume u meant pots. I did thrift store pottery and glassware. Coated the glass with cheap spray rhino and painted prior to smashing. I have the tent and sifter. Used cardboard concrete pour tubes with expanding foam in the ends for columns. Archway from a tv box so it’s collapsible.

Where do u get bones cheap and fast, real or fake?

Same place they did....from dinner, or I suppose you could cast replicas. Shells would work too for a coastal scene. It’s that midden heap look, the appearance of daily life.

You could also read site descriptions and artifact logs, and pick out the objects you think would have the most visual interest.

Sod YOU, Pythagoras!

Quote:A 3,700-year-old clay tablet has revealed that the ancient Babylonians understood the Pythagorean theorem more than 1,000 years before the birth of the Greek philosopher Pythagoras, who is widely associated with the idea.

The tablet, known as Si.427, was used by ancient land surveyors to draw accurate boundaries and is engraved with cuneiform markings which form a mathematical table instructing the reader on how to make accurate right triangles. The tablet is the earliest known example of applied geometry.

I think some scholarly study of Egyptian pyramid suggest application of pythagorean theorem during surveying and construction.   If that is valid it would push back knowledge of pythagorean theorem another 1000 years.

it seems more and more of other geometric advancements previously attributed to the the classical and hellenistic greeks were in fact in circulation in the middle east at least a thousand years earlier.

She sells seashells down by the sword

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
