Red and yellow cherry tomatoes roasted with red pepper flakes, garlic, olive oil, and tossed with bleu cheese and chives.

Marinated beef kabobs. One Kentucky bourbon and one chimichurri. I may go back for some more of the Kentucky bourbon while they're on sale.

Alas, I may no longer eat tomatoes or onions. Many things are off my list of comestibles.  Dodgy

I had enough leftover sliced potatoes to make another batch of potatoes au gratin. I put it uncooked in the fridge overnight and am in the process of baking it. I added about a pound of chopped ham and 8 ounces of grated sharp cheddar to the top before I put it in the oven. I'm guesstimating how long to cook it because I didn't want to take the glass baking pan straight from a cold fridge into a hot oven, so I brought the temperature of both up together. It should be done cooking in a few minutes, and then it needs to rest for 20 minutes or so. I'm getting so hungry thinking about it.

BBQ pork ribs and sweet bread & butter pickles. Aldi's had a sale on St. Louis style ribs so I bought three 3-pound racks.

Between 7:00 pm last night and 7:00 am this morning I ate a whole black-cherry-flavored angel food cake.

I call that a stunning example of herculean restraint.

A couple of fillets of steelhead trout with a side of chile-lime seasoned zucchini. This was my first time cooking zucchini. It was a piece of cake.

RE: Putting it in my mouth
I've been experimenting with my coffee this year. I watched an America's Test Kitchen video and they were saying that to get a decent cup of coffee you need to use a higher coffee-to-water ratio than I had been using. I've known for some time that I have a preference for weak coffee. I liked it dark and strong when I was younger. I lean towards lighter blends in my dotage. Anyway, since my reading confirmed that I was using too little coffee, I started doubling the amount I use to brew a pot. I immediately discovered that the coffee that I had been drinking was horrible, so I started trying different brands and blends. I tried Lunds' Columbian and Brazilian, but was not really a fan. I had wanted to try their Scandinavian blend, but it was not in stock at the time. I've since found the Scandinavian blend is my favorite. But in the interim, I tried Trader Joe's Ethiopian and Bolivian and found both to be quite good. Their Sumatran, not so much. Lunds' Scandinavian is still my favorite, but I noticed that Whole Foods Market's house-brand coffee is about half the price of those others. So, despite having three bags of Scandinavian on hand, I grabbed a bag of a blend they call, "Pacific Rim." It's okay. Good enough to be drinkable, but a ways behind the Scandinavian and the two blends from Trader Joe's.

What's your preferences in coffee?
