Apparently, I was scared of Freddy Krueger and hid behind my father's armchair while the movie was playing. Strange, considering that I grew up to enjoy horror as my favorite genre.

"The Man With The X-Ray Eyes"
Produced and directed by the late, great Roger Corman. Starring Ray Miland and a rare straight-acting Don Rickles made an appearance.
Scared the living shit out of me when I was about ten, after it came to TV.

A bit later, I was deeply affected by "The Zanti Misfits" on The Outer Limits.
The first time (after seeing the episode) that I saw an actual, real, live "potato bug" in my yard, I about shit myself.

I was never a fan of horror flicks. I would watch psychological thrillers but am not a fan of gore...unless it's the Blade trilogy, but that's campy and a guilty pleasure.
I was babysitting late one night and reading 'The Exorcist' which was huge in the theaters at that time. I could deal with reading it but not so much with seeing it on the big screen. The kids were asleep and it was quite late and the house was at the outer edge of the neighborhood with no houses across the street and a park that was deserted at night in the other direction. As the book got more intense I was reading faster and faster when the dog of the house started barking. Pepper was outside the breezeway where I was sitting with the book. A man's voice thundered out of the night, "Shut up you son of a bitch!" I nearly needed to be scraped off the ceiling. Scared the bejebus out of me. That was roughly fifty years ago and I'm not sure my heartrate has returned to normal yet.
So, no...scary movies are a big "NO" for me to this day.
- Funny 'Jaws' is mentioned. I guess when you grow up with a deep sea fishing family you see through the "special effects" of that movie. I was actually sick and fell asleep about halfway through that one in the theater.
