This is consistent with the concept of original sin.

The first sin: daring to understand enough to make moral choices.

If mankind had only stayed like children, we wouldn't be in this mess.  Only God is allowed knowledge.

Okay, I thought about it.

Then my cat started talking, and she says, Guns are bad.

I suggest listening to her.

but what gives the dog authority to command such things?

I think you think followers will follow anything they do not understand and make it a god. honestly the only place i see this is outside the church.  Ie people who dress up in costumes and ride very specific types of vehicles together. or people who want to believe the earth in one shape and not the other, or people who worship climate change as if they had control over it or again people who worship their own knowledge (the sciences) as it were a never changing all knowing God.

Compare that with the people who worship the God of the bible. there maybe be only 1 or 2 changes from the very beginning. (1000s of years no matter how you splice it.)

Never had one of those myself.  Only happened the once.

Remarkably, not far from the truth. Ultimately, GOD does all the work (on the cross, in drawing a person and enlightening him/her) - unmerited grace!

All I ever do is encourage people to at least read the Holy Bible because they are not simply words or a book (as they may appear to many), but living word through which the Almighty saves, and also pray in humility.

Why pray? God already has set a plan or something, prayer does not change God's plan, am I right?

I read the Bible. It had no effect on me whatsoever; to me, they are "simply words."

Praying is something that my brain just does not do. I cannot suspend disbelief in that manner, cannot make a god real enough to pray to. I've been this way since childhood, and this situation is not likely to change.

Invisible man who created the universe has millennia worth of seniority over your dog, evidently.

Again, why pray?
God is all seeing and all knowing, so he knows what you are going to pray about anyway, so why tell him what he knows about, don't waste his time, he's a busy guy!

Prayer in the name of Jesus, the Christ is reverent communion with GOD, and He says in the Holy Bible "pray without ceasing."

You could think of communication between a father or mother and their child... it's a joy for both parties, and arguably of benefit to the child at least.

From my personal experience, GOD is good, perfect! Smile
