A vegan couple have been banned from owning pets after RSPCA inspectors who found their two puppies had been fed a vegan diet.

James McKenzie and Megan Price, from Queensland, Australia, were charged with two counts of failing to treat an animal and one of failing to comply with an animal welfare direction (AWD) after leaving their dogs in ill health.

They don’t have animal cruelty laws where you’re from? Are you Cuban, by any chance? I know (via some deeply disturbing Internet drama) they didn’t have any animal welfare laws until alarmingly recently.

Also, IMHO, that vegan couple got off easy. I strongly believe that anyone dumb enough to raise a carnivorous animal as a vegetarian should have ended up like this (warning: really dark and gruesome humor ahead):

This is horroble. One of my dogs can't eat chicken meat becuase he has a allergic reaction to it that causes his skin to get dry and flaky so we feed him either pet rice (mostly), maccaroni, corn pie or bread (sometimes) mixed with things with allot of protien like fish or red/baked/lentil beans.
