"I have often wondered, that persons who make a boast of professing the Christian religion, namely, love, joy, peace, temperance, and charity to all men, should quarrel with such rancorous animosity, and display daily towards one another such bitter hatred, that this, rather than the virtues they claim, is the readiest criterion of their faith."

Heh, back when I was a churcher, after services people were hell-bent to get out of the parking lot first. Flip you off, cut you off, and rocket off down the street.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

It's due to a hasty desperation to become what one isn't before one is ready.
Schopenhauer Wrote:The intellect has become free, and in this state it does not even know or understand any other interest than that of truth.

Epicurus Wrote:The greatest reward of righteousness is peace of mind.

Take on a project so difficult that you grow into the person who is able to do it.

You're welcome.

I personally think that it's because hatred and animosity are what is taught in many religious environments, but (ironically) the virtues named in these self-same environments are love, peace, charity etc. Sometimes, such cognitive dissonance may stem from an individual's "unreadiness." But it's fair to point out contradictions in the message too.
