Benevolent Creator God?
RE: Benevolent Creator God?
At work.

I must admit that I don't take many things on 'Faith', Ahriman.

The distinction between secular faith and religious faith is an interesting one.

I would beg to differ. What about when you're stopped at a red light, waiting for the light to turn green? You don't know the light will turn green. You expect the light to turn green, but you don't know the light will turn green. There might very well be some kind of malfunction that makes it so the light is stuck on red for hours and hours. You take the light turning green, in a timely fashion, on faith.

They are functionally identical.

Both forms of faith, are based on a lack of absolute knowledge.

Incorrect.

Secular faith: I have faith that the sun will rise tomorrow.
The empirical evidence is there to verify this as fact.

Religious faith: I have faith that god will ensure the sun rises tomorrow.
There is no evidence that god exists, let alone that he is the reason for the rising of the sun.

He hopes the light will turn green, but it's always possible it doesn't. That’s hope, that's not faith. And if it doesn't turn green he'll improvise which will likely work because of his history with improvising in these kinds of situations. So he doesn’t need faith. Faith isn’t required at all.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

What if you were blind? Then you wouldn't be able to verify the sun's existence. You would just be taking people's word for it, that the sun exists.

Good thing the only blind ones are those with religious faith.

You're kidding, right?

You're going to use that weird @rssed idea of 'Faith'? Really?

*Sigh*

No I don't take traffic lights turning green on 'Faith'. I know that the infrastructure in my country is built to quite good and high standards.

I pitty you if you live in a country where you have to gamble with your life every time you cross a road/intersection.
