What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
What I learned today that I didn't know yesterday: You can't drink wine (or anything alcoholic) for 3 days following a laser treatment from the dermatologist.

Then I learned: Laws against blasphemy, though rarely enforced, still exist in Massachusetts, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wyoming.

Obiwan Kenobi series is as cynical, repetitive and uninteresting as the 3 sequel movies and all the other spin off live action series.

The very short light saber duel between Darth Vader and Reva Sevendar is the only highlight in 6 hours.

I've never watched a Star Wars movie all the way through, and glad I didn't waste my time doing so. Thank all you sufferers who can give me the elevator version! I tried to read one of the books many years ago. Didn't make it very far, and don't remember the title.

Watching the new Nexpo video, and I came upon a strange factoid, and everything around how I found out about it gets stranger and stranger: before she met John Lennon, Yoko Ono did some brutal BDSM porn, including a film called Satan's Bed. At one point, a woman (who isn't actually her) is tied to a pool table and raped. How the fuck did I find out about this?

Because the last item in Nexpo's new video about disturbing lost media is about how a two-second clip from that scene ended up on national TV, from, of all things, a cutaway in a video of Corey Feldman singing his song "Something in Your Eyes" to promote Dream a Little Dream. The clip has absolutely nothing to do with the contents of the song, the only other cutaways from Corey Feldman pretending to be Michael Jackson are the bemused reactions of the audience, and, most bizarrely of all, the video of the performance has been on YouTube for nine years (as "Corey Feldman Music Video" and I'm not showing that specifically because of this cutaway), and of the 1702 comments on the video, very few comments even bring it up, and most of them were from less than a day ago. You really have to scroll down to find anything about it, especially from before that Nexpo video was uploaded.

I swear, if I ever meet Daniel Kahneman, I'm going to show him that video. This reminds me so much of that basketball gorilla video he talked about in Thinking, Fast and Slow.

... You know, it was between that reference to Kahnemann and something about American Psycho, but I'm not sure what the reference should be. Probably something that highlights how oblivious everyone is to Patrick Bateman.

Here's hoping her porning was better than her singing.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I saw the first one released - who the hell knows what the number it is now - I enjoyed it mostly because it was my first night out after having my older daughter.  And the special effects were pretty amazing for that time.  I have seen bits and pieces of some of the others.  SciFi isn't really my thing.
