What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
So while the Greeks were obsessed with toned bodies, people on Easter Island were into dad bods.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That once you go through the effort of looking exactly like Dr. Phil, you can beat him at his own game with almost no additional effort.

William Tyndale, who wanted the people to understand the Bible by translating it into English, was executed in 1536 on the grounds of disrespect for religion and his body was cremated.

Not while.   By the time eastern islanders were carving their dad bods, the Greeks under the baleful influence of Christianity were also carving mainly toneless icons executed in wood or soapstone in the timeless style of high school art class rather than in marble in the style of Phidias or Agesander.

Despite being nominated five times for Best Director, Alfred Hitchcock never won a competitive Oscar.

In 1845, 79 people died in a bridge collapse ove the River Bure because a large crowd had gathered to watch a clown in a bathtub be pulled upriver by four geese.

I heard that East Germany put asbestos in their cigarettes. And not out of health concerns, more because real tobacco was hard to get. I remember they put in other fillers, sawdust might have been one, but I don’t remember what they were since my Modern German history course was over a decade ago.
