What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?

Apparently there are companies in the US and Europe (maybe others) that are recording voices of the soon to be departed. Once activated AI searches the net for any data tied to the dead person in the net and will create conversations with the survivors based on the content that was found.

Too creepy, I don't think I'll be signing up.

That’s literally the plot to “Be Right Back” from Black Mirror. I wonder how long it will take before they try to add the androids to the mix as well.

Apparently, it’s possible to be banned from a calculator app. And that they’re apparently so prudish that the words “pee pee poo poo” are enough to pull it off.

I learned today that, apparently, the famous scene when Jesus cleanses the temple actually happened twice. This is a solution proposed by an apologist in order to harmonize the accounts of John and the one in the synoptics.

It makes sense, in light of John 11:35, which tells us that Jesus was not a carpenter, but a janitor: ‘Jesus swept’.

Prior to starting production on Spaceballs, Mel Brooks submitted the script to George Lucas to make sure he had no objections to the parody. Lucas was (obviously) fine with it, as long as Lone Star wasn’t dressed like Han Solo.

So Brooks had him dressed like Indiana Jones.

In 1953, American singer/songwriter Johnny Cash was in the US Air Force and was stationed in West Germany as a Morse code operator. His job was to intercept and report on Soviet radio transmissions. He was thus the first American to learn of Joseph Stalin's death.

While men are nearly 18 percent faster than women in 5K races, they are only 11 percent faster in marathons, 3.7 percent faster at 50 miles, roughly even as they approach 100 miles, and then women routinely outpace men at races 195 miles and up.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
