Guess I've been hiding under a rock.
"Demure and mindful" – you'd have to be living under a rock to have not heard these phrases flying around on social media in the last few weeks. Popularized by now hugely popular TikTok creator Jools Lebron, the terms have come to be used by netizens, brands, celebs and even the White House itself.

In 1915, Dr. Harry Haiselden convinced a patient, the mother of a disabled baby (the issue at hand was intestinal and was apparently fixable with surgery) to just let that baby die. Despite public outcry, he wasn’t arrested, and he didn’t even get his license revoked… at least until he made a movie about the whole affair, one which he actually starred in as himself in all but name. It was called The Black Stork and its pro-euthanasia message is actually shockingly shit.
Not just because of the values dissonance inherent in eugenics, but because the example he gives of Lebensunwertes Leben is a hunchback who gets made fun of (seriously, it looks like most of his problems could be mitigated if the people around him treated him nicely) eventually kills the doctor who saved his life as a baby. And, apparently, having a grandparent who had an affair with a servant puts you at genetic risk somehow.

I thought it was just for dramatic effect for the show, but a search revealed that a bounce house can fly away if not properly tied down.

Well of course I'm demure, those TikTokers aren't though.
The true demure don't spruik about it, it's like fight club.
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

That Lenin passed his exams for law degree at top position in entire country (per Victor Sebestyen "The Russian Revolution").

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Four gummy worms have 2 grams of protein. I guess I can get the protein I need from shoveling gunny worms.

For the making of Mutiny On The Bounty, they cast Clark Gable against Charles Laughton specifically because he expected the two to hate each other. Partly because of the fact that, acting-wise, the two were from different worlds, one prestigious but not popular, and the other popular but not prestigious. And the other part was because Charles Laughton was gay and Clark Gable was homophobic. It worked, especially with the homophobia angle.
