According to the White House, he is.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

From what I understand this kerfluffle arose because the government has a very specific definition of gain of function research which the Wuhan work funded by NIH did not meet. By more general definitions, that research quite possibly would be gain of function. Rand's accusations are a form of equivocation as it is the government's definitions that matter in reporting and assigning grants, not whatever loose definition Rand and company are using. So Fauci didn't lie.

There is definitely some backtracking here.  Technically, the research done was Gain Of Function research.  One could argue that the details of it wasn't causing the virus to become more dangerous to humans (and wasn't doing something that couldn't happen in nature anyway -- best to study it), but it sounds like Fauci didn't know about the details of this grant, and now there are weasel-words going on.

Anyway, we knew last year that Wuhan had referenced GOF research in a paper, but there was never any evidence they were doing it with anything similar to the current coronavirus.

So if your claiming these vaccines are great then you are also claiming that Donald Trump is the greatest for making it happen

I'll repost these facts cos they are very important and look forward to your reply @BrianSoddingBoru4

This graphic was generated sometime between October 2020 and May 2020 (the release of the five scenarios). Without more information, this estimate could easily have predated the first major wave and definitely predates the Delta variant. The document this is based upon clearly labels it as an estimate that may change as more data is accumulated.

Why are you using year-old graphics to make your points?

Can we put Ronaldo in the Covid conspiracies dump thread?

He clearly doesn't want to understand anything - he is here to peddle vaccine disinformation. That was his only reason to sign up in this forum.

Oh, but we can, Ronaldo.  Trump, of course, took most of the credit for developing these vaccines because that's what Trump does.  If he's even only 1% involved with something, he claims he was 100% responsible.  He even claims responsibility for things he had absolutely nothing to do with and of course he dismisses any total fuck ups that were 100% his.  So you can't put any stock in anything Trump says.

Nevertheless, I do credit Trump with at least not being an obstacle to the vaccine development, and he certainly could have done that, so kudos to him for not fucking it up.  But just how responsible was Trump?

"If I wasn't president, according to almost everybody, even the enemy — if I wasn't president, you wouldn't have a vaccine for five years," Trump said.

This is assuming a lot.  For one thing, it assumes that no other president would have initiated such a program, which is asinine.  By all accounts, Barak Obama was far more proactive than Trump.  Obama started to work the housing crisis before he was even elected while McCain sat there like a lump of wood.  It's more likely that Biden or Clinton would have reacted far earlier.  Remember that Trump initially dismissed the pandemic as a Democrat hoax and then he said it would just disappear when the weather warmed up.  And instead of promoting the vaccine to all of his worshipers after he lost re-election, he spent the entire time trying to subvert the election process and the Constitution to remain in power.  He spent 0% of his time and energy promoting his wonderful success as the key component in putting this virus to bed.  And who are the people resisting the vaccine?  Mostly his worshipers.

The speed of this vaccine development was dependent upon two things, mRNA technology and a total reinvention of clinical trials.  Money was a big factor in speeding up the clinical trials, but mRNA technology has been in the works for years.  This just happens to be the first opportunity to use it in such a way, so timing was a large factor there.  Trump had absolutely no impact on mRNA technology, so credit him zero for that.  But providing the funding and just basically staying out of the way after that, yes good job there, Mr. Orange.  But given that he initially didn't take the virus seriously, its evident that had no one convinced him otherwise, he was going to drive the entire country off a cliff.  The person who convinced Trump that the virus was a real threat is Neil Ferguson, OBE; you can look him up.  I submit that he deserves about 99% of the credit that Trump actually claims.

It's also worth noting that Pfizer wasn't even part of operation "warp speed".  It developed its vaccine on its own.

And anyway, it wouldn't matter if Trump himself had personally created the vaccine the White House basement.  You are just trying to conflate the success of the vaccine with Trump because you know how unpopular he is here.  That's a big dose of intellectual dishonesty and you know it.
Why is it so?

RE: Covid 19 conspiracies dump
Senator Elizabeth Warren is standing up for common people by asking Amazon CEO Andy Jassy to explain why the company’s algorithms recommend Covid misinformation

Quote:Warren says searches for “Covid-19,” “Covid,” “vaccine,” “Covid-19 vaccine” and “pandemic” turned up products that promote false information about coronavirus vaccines and cures, many of which appeared at the top of search results.

For example, a book by Ronnie Cummins and Dr. Joseph Mercola, the latter of whom is considered an influential spreader of vaccine and coronavirus misinformation online, called “The Truth About Covid-19” was the top search result for “Covid-19″ and “vaccine,” according to the letter. It was also labeled a bestseller in Amazon’s “Political Freedom” books category.

Searches for “COVID 19 vaccine” produced other literature promoting discredited Covid cures or vaccine misinformation, including that Covid-19 vaccines are “making people sick and killing them,” the letter states. CNBC was able to replicate several examples mentioned in Warren’s letter.
