I have no issue with the confederate battle flag, and why should I care about a couple swazis in a crowd of tens of thousands, especially when witness accounts say one of them was being held by a guy who was holding the flag because he was calling Trudeau the nazi, so the flag in that case doesn't even seem to have been in support of the Nazis. In any case, you are using Fox News tactics like when they tried to smear Bernie Sanders as a whole for having a crazy supporter who shot up a baseball game. A few bad apples out there does not speak to a movement.

You know what this is reminding me of? James Allsup talking about how there were only a few Swastika flags when he was at the Charlottesville Unite the Right rally. 





And even assuming that every single instance of a swastika flag at the protest was being used specifically to call Trudeau Nazis, (and I should point out that the anti-vaxx movement has been using a LOT of imagery comparing themselves to Jews in the Holocaust lately), that's got its own serious problems. For one thing, it's not like the people who ended up im Lager could have just avoided their situation by getting a free vaccine (or series thereof) that would have spared them from the worst effects of the disease. And before you ask about the sterilisation program, I'm fairly certain even many of those people they sterilised were still sent to the camps anyway if they weren't already dead.

To be fair, there was a long time when the Confederate Battle Flag appeared to have been given a new meaning, one that was more about regional pride than, y'know, the time that particular region decided to secede from its host nation out of the fear that they could abolish slavery (which, ironically, only ended up happening because that act triggered the only conditions where the Union could even do so). And that time only really ended less than a decade ago when it became abundantly clear that those same racist and white supermacist sentiments that inspired that insurrection were alive, well, and strong enough to lead to mass shootings and flipping elections.

Granted, a lot of people still saw the uglier meaning behind that symbol, but until fairly recently, you could still argue in good faith that you just saw it as a symbol of the part of America you called home, or even just a sign that you liked Lynyrd Skynyrd enough to buy some of their merch back when they still plastered that flag all over everything. Yes, I fell into that last category when I bought one of their T-shirts about a decade ago. No, I don't wear it anymore for obvious reasons, both moral and, frankly, practical. And with everything that's happened since 2015, those days are gone. Everyone on the mainstream has abandoned that symbol. Skynyrd doesn't even use it anymore (the official shop only has the American flag plastered on everything, although it looks like third-party sites like Rockabilia still have some of the old merch). Now it's just the far-right and the blatant racists using it, and as long as they're going to base their identities on keeping a good-sized portion of the population down, they can fucking have it. It may be theoretically possible to give it a new meaning, but not now. Not when one of the US' two major parties has all but officially embraced white supremacy.

That said, besides the racist connotations, why the fuck are protesters in Canada even bothering with it?

Yes, the truckers are clearly just like unite the right. We had thousands of secret Klan members in the streets of Ottawa. There were two Nazi flags. That proves it. Case closed. And every single Bernie Sanders supporter thinks it's awesome when politicians playing baseball are shot. Two Bernie supporters agreed, so this is clearly a problem among Bernie supporters, right? See how ridiculous that sounds? Congrats. You are now qualified to be a Fox News talking head. When can you start?

I don't care if some people wear the Jewish stars. They're identifying with the Jews in that situation, and the tyrannical government are the Nazis. It's not an anti-semetic action. Yeah, we're not being put in gas chambers, but being compelled to take a medical procedure is no small thing. Covid camps in Australia. Australian politicians are even being forced to confinement against their will after testing negative for covid. Quebec threatening to fine people thousands of dollars for not taking an unwanted medical procedure (thankfully they've backed away from this). I don't agree with the line that you can't invoke the Jews unless you're being thrown into gas chambers. These people are identifying with the Jews, and see the other side as the Nazis in this situation, although a soft version of the Nazis obviously. To call that anti-semetic is reaaaaally stupid. You may have a super lax view when it comes to caring about civil liberties, but others are not going to have that super lax view.

And you do know that the organizers of the Freedom Convoy are all vaccinated, right? Funny definition of anti-vaxx you have there.
