Canada having its own Tea Party moment. Pierre Poilievre, who voiced support for the trucker convoy, is now the official opposition leader in Canada, and has been named the new leader of the Conservative Party. I think I might be ready to vote again. We back, baby. I'm still never voting for Ford in the Ontario elections though.

You probably wouldn't want to make comparisons like that if you have a high view of a party or movement.  The tea party was....not what you think it was.  Or, maybe, the comparison is spot on, and whatever yo have going on there is exactly what the tea party actually was.

It's somewhat comparable, although of course our Conservative party is still to the left of your Democrat party, but anyhow, it was probably a decent way to explain it to a bunch of Americans who think the trucker convoy and their supporters are a Nazi death cult. Nice that you guys were first claiming the trucker convoy had zero impact on policy, and now you guys are blaming the beautiful death cult for controlling CDC policy where there are no mandated masks, vaccines, quarantine, or social distancing in schools. Same here in Canadian schools. Restrictions are gone. In a few days, vaccination will not be necessary to enter the country.

The Trucker Convoy™ was an astroturf campaign by and from (mostly american) nazi death cultists - with local support, ofc.

They didn't have any impact as the provincial governments (due to cowardice)were already phasing out those requirements before the Convoy Karens (most of whom were not even truckers as most truckers were already vaccinated) even gassed up their rigs and wasted a month of everyone's time complaining to the federal government who neither implemented the mandates nor had the authority to end them and yes CDC has caved into the Covid crazies and abandoned sound policy for political expediency. I don't what you think this little rant proves other than you are demented ....

Never said he was perfect, but the lesser of three evils and all (including NDP). It was always going to be the Conservatives, for me, or nothing. And again, for our American friends, our Conservatives would be considered lefties in your country. Yes, he's a politician and all politicians suck and are corrupt, but I feel like if I withhold my vote from Pierre, that will send the message that Canadians don't want someone who stood up for what was right during the Freedom Convoy. People like myself withholding our votes in protest from clowns like Doug Ford and Erin O'Toole has probably helped bring in someone like Pierre who's more ballsy than the average Conservative, and I don't want to waste this opportunity. Stephen Harper sucked as PM. Maybe Pierre will too, but Canada really just needs a change.
