Save the best for last person
Are you one?

Example, there are two items on your plate, one you kind of like, and one that you really like. What do you eat first, or save for last? Maybe you eat them at the same rate.

Another, you're shopping and grab some boxes of tissue but when you get home you find that they are not the same, one is more ruff. Which box do you use first? Do you care?

At christmas would you open what you thought was the best gift first?

I'm not exactly sure I know why but I'm a best for last person.

Yep. I eat the thing that I like least first, and finish with the thing I like best. Which is odd given that I suck at the delayed gratification thing.

I eat more-liked foods alternately with the less-liked ones, but I make sure the last fork full is of the one that I like better.

On the tissue example (or anything similar), I’m most likely to bring the wrong product back and exchange it. Sure, it’s a bit of a bother, but it beats wiping your arse with a pine cone.

I tend to eat what I like best first for the most part. I am not a big eater so I don't like to fill up on the other things and not have enough appetite for whatever is my favorite.

As for the tissues thing...I would probably roll my eyes at my screwup and just use them when needed.

Presents any more seem to be gift gards so it doesn't really matter.

As to the Christmas gift dilemma, I always get the same things: towels, socks, and t-shirts. I concentrate on feigning delighted surprise more than I worry about which one to open first.

Oh look! An Amazon gift card.

Oh thank you! An Amazon gift card.

What did soandso get you? An Amazon gift card.

I get it. Not that I'm not thankful considering how much I shop on Amazon but the element of surprise left a few years ago.

I always ate the thing I liked the most first. As far as Christmas presents, I always went for either the biggest box or the heaviest box.

I don't think order is the issue. I merely think it is a personal comfort issue. I never felt a "letdown". In terms of food, it isn't the order, it is the taste. In terms of presents also, it isn't the order, it is the thought someone put into it, big or small, expensive or not.

My mom growing up when eating insisted I rotate the portions. I fucking hated that. To me, it didn't matter, I was going to finish the plate. Most of the time she'd cook things I liked anyway. So it wasn't a matter of something making me want to gag, or not eat. It was just a mater of order.

For example, if she cooked steak and mash potatos and peas, I had no problem with any of those, but I ate the steak first, then mixed the peas and potatos. That drove her nuts, but my thought looking back at it now, is " How I eat my food isn't ending up in your stomach, so why should you care?". I think for her it was an "etiquette" thing she was raised with. Just like not putting your elbows on the table.

Especially with food. The order you eat things is up to you, it is an individual thing. There is no wrong or right order to eat a meal. There is only individual tastes, and making sure the food is cooked properly and stored properly so that it doesn't get anyone sick. Outside that, taste and predilections are always an individual thing.

Least first, save the best for last. Of course, I'm a real weirdo when it comes to eating. If there are separate items on my plate, I eat each of them one.at.a.time. Don't ask. It's been driving family nuts for decades.

Bowls are the best, it's all mixed in there together.
Why is it so?

Off on a little side road here...

A brother-in-law not only ate everything separately but nothing could touch anything else. I didn't know that the first time he and his SO came over for a meal. Apparently he nearly had a panic attack because I didn't know to provide a separate plate or bowl for each food item. Thought that was a pretty weird quirk.
