Questions and Observations for American Football Fans

RE: The first time you heard "Third and a mile"?
(September 11, 2021 at 3:29 am)Brian37 Wrote: I get it. In today's game a "mile" is nothing.

But back then, like I said in a prior post, the standard ilk of play calling was run on first and second, to set your offense up for play option, as in 3rd and short. But today's game is mostly passing.

I actually am shocked at the risk taking that goes on today, even early in a game on 4th down, which if you don't have the yardage, old school would make you punt. The game has changed.

There's a high school coach who almost always onside kicks, goes for 2, and goes for 4th and 4 or less.  He cites statistics.  There are articles out there.  His team won several championships.  Of course, Pulaski Academy is a private school, basically able to recruit, playing against public schools with fewer athletes and coaches.  He was hired by a small college in the east, so we'll see if that strategy brings similar success.

What brings out the old guy in me is seeing teams line up in the shotgun on 4th and 1 or less.  UTEP did it last night and got stuffed because the defense had time to reach the ball.  If you can't line up under center and win a couple feet, turn in your pads.

Hail to the skeptics, hail victory!
They would be midgets if they were not Giants. But who cares if they are Giants? Burgundy  and gold put Frank Sinatra down tonight!

Start spreading the news, ESPN is online. You want to be a part of it, GOOGLE, GOOGLE.

The Washington Football team beat the New York Giants last night. If you can find my favorite Moonlighting episodes from billions of years ago, pretty sure you are smart enough to figure out last night's game.

You could have simply said that to begin with.

Yea, and I could have "simply" talked about episodes of Moonlighting which you are not a fan of, but managed to find the titles.

I think my clues were far more blatantly obvious in this case. And they were overnight for that case.

There’s a difference. I look up the silly shit you ask about to help you. Also, I don’t speak in riddles.

You fucked that up as well. It’s ‘How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?’. And it’s not a riddle.

Idiot.
