@ Frodo - Religion pushed on small children has a direct detriment to science. If children are to believe in miracles and that the earth is only 6000 years old etc, then they would have a distorted view of reality. These religious "facts" are conflicting with what is taught in the science classes. You would be surprised at the amount of schools that are supposedly non-secular - and still have Christian religion based assemblies.

Also, with regards to the preachers, I'm not referring to Hyde Park - these parasites are peddling their filth in the high streets of small towns and villages. Sadly, these are the places where statistically there are lower levels of education. I assume these places are targeted to increase their hit ratio.

Welcome to the forums. btw, not all religions have conflicting "facts" with science, and some religions don't have any concern over what's taught in science classes as well.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

Thanks for the greetz tackattack and I agree that some religions are compatible with science, religions of this type generally tend to be moderate, non-intrusive and less financially needy than the type that is whore-mongered on street corners and, inexplicably, in the assemblies of our non-secular schools.
