Articles of Distraction
RE: Articles of Distraction
I have not been a frequent visitor to this thread, other than to show my support to the community,

I am now the very proud parent of a child who .... I feel the word, trans, is like venom, yet this is what my child told me: "Dad, I'm trans."

My initial reaction was, "Oh, is that all? That took guts to say, Proud of you. Now about the mess of your room,,,"

okay some editorial liberty there in the last sentence.

Most butter contains milk. Clarified butter doesn’t.

I remember when one of my nephews came out as gay. My brother kicked him out of the house. He was pissed off because he was named after our father, as if that made some sort of difference. I was nice Rolleyes about explaining that he was still his son, and wanted to know what the hell difference it made. He's come to terms with it. I sure as fuck wouldn't have kicked one of my own sons out for that. But then this brother voted for the chump.  Dodgy

My parents were very strict and not accepting of those who were "different". In the 70s my dad didn't want me dating anyone who had hair that reached their ears...a tall order back then. But that's an idea of how far they didn't stray from the "conservative norm".

Later in life my dad was 100% okay with my cousin who is a lesbian. Maybe it was because she was/is a decent golfer but I prefer to think that dad learned a few things and became more accepting as he got older.

The second story on MSN today is about Simone Biles' new haircut. The second story. Is it any wonder people are distrustful of the media?

Trump Guitars Gets a Cease And Desist

Quote:A guitar company touting an endorsement from President-elect Donald Trump has been hit by a cease and desist order from Gibson.

According to Guitar World, the 130-year-old guitar manufacturer confirmed that it had sent the warning to Trump Guitars owner 16 Creative "as the design infringes upon Gibson's exclusive trademarks, particularly the iconic Les Paul body shape."

Quote:While a non-signed guitar costs $1,250, a six string baring Trump's signature runs for more than $10,000.

For anyone looking for additional ways to light cash on fire, Trump Guitars also sells the "Presidential Series" in black, gold and red finishes.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Satanic Temple Has To Explain Religious Freedom. Again.

Quote:A group of Satanists in Ohio have turned the tables on a "religious release" program in public schools that allows for students to be taken off campus for religious education in the middle of the school day.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Edgewood Elementary School in Marysville, Ohio will begin allowing students to take time off during the school day to attend the Hellion Academy of Independent Learning (HAIL), which is sponsored by the Satanic Temple.

Quote:"We aren’t trying to shut the LifeWise Academy down, but I do think a lot of school districts don’t realize when they open the door for one religion, they open it for all of them,” June Everett, a local minister at the Satanic Temple, said.

Michael Douglas is blaming Silicon Valley for 'dumbing down' Hollywood. I gleefully remind him that there was once a shoot-em-up Western with an all little people case, and that John Wayne once played Genghis Khan.

Hollywood isn’t being dumbed down - it started that way.
