Stuff you have done (that most people haven' t)

Years ago I had a woodchuck take up residence under the barn. You can' t allow this - as the little bastards tunnel under the foundation and cause serious structural damage. I have had to fix the damage twice before - so I do not fuck around.
At first sign - I got out the counterbearing trap and set it on the hole it was using to get under the barn. This hole is on the east wall base on a concrete apron we had years back for a 3 yard dumpster.
It caught it the next day - but there was a problem. It wasn' t dead. Somehow it got itself sideways in the trap but not on the neck.... It was pissed, snarling and has serious claws.
I couldn't safely shoot it because of ricochet danger to myself or the equipment on the other side of the wall. Waiting for it to die would have been as inhumane as crucifixion.
So I improvised. I caved in it' s skull with a 4 foot piece of 1 1/2 angle iron that is used to prop the side door closed in the wind.
How many of you have killed something with a club?
Got something else that few have done?

I once killed a roof rat with one of those old style 5 cell MagLites.

I went with my dad when I was about 7 to the vet school on a Saturday when he had rounds. He picked me up onto the loading dock and then jumped up himself. We went in though a big sliding door. There was a steer laying on the floor. The steer had been cut in half and was laid out right side/left side. I was holding dad's hand as we walked in but I had to pull toward the steer so I could see all the innards. It's a sight most people won't see. Didn't bother me, I was fascinated, asking what's that? what's that?
Another weird thing...our homelife was weird...I watched dad feed a two-headed baby pig to the bobcat we had in a cage in the back building. Why we had a live bobcat for a time is a whole other story.

BrianSoddingBoru4 those old MagLites are deadly. I have one in my car that, now that I think of it, probably needs fresh batteries. But it would be an effective weapon.

On the farm I lived on as a kid, we raised rabbits for fur and meat. My step-dad was out of town for a week or two, I think I was 13. One of the rabbits had a problem where its front teeth had grown so long they curled under its chin and were starting to grow iinto its throat. With Dad gone, it was my job to put it out of its misery. My grandpa could break a rabbit's neck with a seemingly gentle karate chop with his bare hand, first try. I figured I coulld do the same thing if I used a hammer. I could not. It took several blows.

I operated a caterpillar farm for about 15 years and wrote Lord of the Rings fan fiction for at least a decade. I don't think many people did those things.

I do my best to spare animals and even insects. I have read that flushing spiders down the toilet offers them a good opportunity for survival, as they hold their breath and surf, emerging in one's sewer line a bit wet, but after drying out, happily go their merry way. I do try to catch spiders in a cup, before safely evicting them from my home, but those who refuse to cooperate, they get the toilet treatment.

Things I've done that most people haven't...
I wrote and published a book, got a utility patent, and did swing-stage work on a 44 story high-rise.
