RE: Compulsory Voting
Quote:I am not talking about the danger of eating trace amounts of antibiotics with animal products. I am talking about the danger of antibiotics given to farmed animals giving a chance for superbacteria to develop. Whether small amounts of antibiotics are present in meat or milk or eggs is entirely irrelevant
Once again that's heavily regulated ...... Dodgy

Quote:That's simply not true. Egg industry is the biggest offender. By far. Most antibiotics these days are given to chicken. Estimates vary, some are as high as 90%, but there is no doubt it's more than 50%.
That's simply not true..... Dodgy

Yes it is  Dodgy

No, it is not. What would make sense epidemiologically (to postpone the inevitable rise of superbacteria) and with regards to animal rights (to end factory farming) would be to ban prophylactic use of antibiotics altogether.

What do those laws actually say? You are writing as if you believed all laws are good.
Helios Wrote:That's simply not true.....
Wikipedia claims it is 70% of antibiotics that is given to chickens. OK, not 90%, but still very high.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antibiotic...resistance Wrote:As of 2016, over 70 percent of FDA approved antibiotics are utilized in modern, high production poultry farms to prevent, control, and treat disease.

Yes, it is. Plenty of regulations have been implemented to reduce the prophylactic use of antibiotics in both people and animals. And an outright ban isn't needed when a reduction is sufficient. Again you have no clue what you are on about..... Dodgy

I don't know what those laws actually say, but it's obvious that the vast majority of antibiotics is used preventatively in farmed animals, mostly chicken. Preventative use of antibiotics is what enables factory farming. And laws that don't ban that don't do enough.

So you admit you are ignorant of the laws. You simply reaffirm your Wikipedia page. Simply reassert your claim about factory farming, And insist without justification ban is the only way. This comment couldn't have failed much harder... Dodgy

It's not my job to tell you what evidence is needed to justify your case. Wikipedia is not more reliable than a person on a forum by default. Sorry to disappoint you ... Dodgy

It's not, it's basic common sense for anybody who knows what they is talking about. Chickens being kept in dirty battery cages would be made impossible by bacteria. And antibiotics are used preventatively to kill those bacteria. You are just trying to manufacture the truth by discarding the evidence, and it's very hard to discuss with people who do that.

It's not common sense and you have no clue what you are talking about.

Quote: Chickens being kept in dirty battery cages would be made impossible by bacteria.
That's not necessarily what the factory would require. So again hardly commonsense

Quote: And antibiotics are used preventatively to kill those bacteria.
That's not necessarily what the factory would require. So again hardly commonsense

Nope, I'm just not buying your manufactured truth and you have yet to present any actual evidence aside from "Wikipedia says so" I imagine your actual frustration comes from the fact I don't blindly accept your every empty mouthing as gospel. I get how that could frustrate someone like you  Hehe
