@Valkyrie I think I've found a side hustle for you.

The past several days, it's been so muggy and humid here. Too dangerous to walk the hills. I've resorted to standing in my room and pumping the weights with a timer. It is easier in some ways and harder in others. :/

I have also progressed my balance exercises to bicep curls while balancing on one foot. If you hold a weight in the same hand as the leg you are balancing on, it actually is so much easier to stay steady and balance. Which makes sense because on the website I got these pre-tightrope exercises on, the way to up the challenge on the bicep curl exercises is to try doing curls with the arm opposite of the leg you're balancing on.

Lifting weights was never something I particularly enjoyed. Engaged times throughout my life, mainly as part of cross country training. Another time was when I had a gym membership. I never stuck with it long enough to notice any physical changes in my body. So I've never had the well toned muscular type of physique.

And these days, keeping a low body weight means eating healthy rather than exercising.

And these days, keeping a low body weight means eating healthy rather than exercising.

The year of 2021 when I lost a bunch of weight, I did so with a massive amount of cardio and basically going vegetarian and not eating ANY sugar, butter, salt, or oily fat the entire time. This past winter, I gained almost 60 lbs in 3-4 months because of overindulging during the holidays.

I did not like withholding so much from my diet. It was miserable. I have heard that if I pack on enough muscle, I can enjoy something sugary or fatty occasionally-frequently and it'll just be burned off while sitting still, because the muscles act as mini furnaces strapped to your body. But you gotta constantly keep them built and constantly feed them so they can stay. So, instead of withholding fun foods, I'm letting myself indulge(with balance; I'm not going crazy eating a lot) but trying to build up and maintain my fat furnaces so I can continue to enjoy things.

The problem comes with the discomfort and lack of dopamine to motivate me when doing standing still exercises. I can barely do 5 minutes straight of just pumping the weights while watching a youtube video. I become too aware of the discomfort in my arms and give in to the urge to just set them down and sit.

It IS a bit easier now, because I'm building up progressive changes in the weights, going up by 2.5 lbs. increments. Before, I was going from my 3 lbs. dumbbells to my 10 lbs. kettlebells and it was extremely unfun and discouraging. I started and quit so many times last year.

I have been going at this for about 8-9 weeks since starting with 3 lbs. and I can touch my arms now and feel the bulge tighten in a satisfying way. I can feel it in the difference between 5 to 7.5 lbs that what once was discomfort is now easy. I heard it recommended to make these upgrades in smaller increments to better stay on course and so far, that's working better than trying to jump to lifting bigger weights all at once.

You're fine. But it's the best to me.

I walked already. I'm gonna walk again. Talking about it has reminded me that is awesome.

RE: Lieblingswandern
It is so humid and hot lately. Finished another round of mowing on Tuesday and trying to get back into walking with the weights. Can't do it during sunlight hours. I get halfway up Hill F and I'm SWIMMING in sweat and lightheaded. I'm determined not to take water bottles or anything with me except for the weights because it is really supposed to be 15-20 minutes. It's not a "stop and drink/stop and piss" kind of walk. But it is simply too dangerous to go past 8:30 in the morning and before the sun starts going down at 7 p.m.

So, trying other things. Standing in my room is NOT working. I start feeling discomfort at 4 minutes and can't figure out why it is so much harder standing still in front of an AC with a video playing to distract me. But it simply is. It is known.

So, I am trying walking with the SamsungHealth app counting my miles as I walk a circuit around the house, over and over. It is still done in the hot sun but the curvature of the yard is less intense than either Hill K or F and the house is right there. That's the important part. What used to be so attractive about walking my hills was the fact that I couldn't set the weights down and needed to return to the house with them, is actually the dangerous part. How far away the house actually is. Now, I can at least walk but my actual distance from the house is shorter, making it safer.

Good news: this upcoming Sunday I am due to start with the 10 lbs on Hill K while still carrying the 7.5 lbs on Hill F. If I find a good day, I'll attempt it. Otherwise, I'll just do one of my mile walks around the house with the 10 lbs kettle bells and one of them will be with the 7.5. The actual good news: despite the sun and the heat, walking around the property with the 7.5 lbs weights is actually pretty easy. So, I think I am ready to do the 10 lbs. Right on schedule.

Also good news: I am baked, man. My skin is golden brown. These biceps will look fucking glossy.
