Loneliness and the Perpetuation of Pain

RE: Loneliness and the Perpetuation of Pain
It took away a hell of a lot for me, but then again, I do have a very solitary nature.

Can you explain all the things you did to remove loneliness?

Honestly, it's mostly just Alison and finding shit online to distract me for me. Maybe reading some Schopenhauer. Like I said, my nature is very solitary. I suspect that a combination of my being on the autism spectrum, having LOADS of shitty experiences when I was being socialised as a child, and growing up in an era where people can easily find entertainment and/or information with a few strokes of a keyboard made me this way.

Fair enough. I'm glad you've found a cure for the loneliness. Smile

How can you not feel small in an infinite universe?

From what I have read on here, you have an infinite number of things that you do both alone and with your dad.  Your days seem to be quite full with interesting hobbies and trips and concert-going.  I would imagine that you are often too occupied to even think about being lonely.

RE: Loneliness and the Perpetuation of Pain
True. If there’s nothing else going on, I always find something to occupy my time with.

If you’ve ever read The Phantom Tollbooth, it starts with a boy sitting alone in his room not knowing what to do with himself, and then after going on the big adventure that takes up most of the book, this happens:
Quote: And, in the very room in which he sat, there were books that could take you anywhere, and things to invent, and make, and build, and break, and all the puzzle and excitement of everything he didn't know—music to play, songs to sing, and worlds to imagine and then someday make real. His thoughts darted eagerly about as everything looked new—and worth trying.
"Well, I would like to make another trip," he said, jumping to his feet; "but I really don't know when I'll have the time. There's just so much to do right here."
Hell, just today, I spent a lot of time trying to find the right way to play this on kalimba:

Eventually, I settled on transposing it down a bit and just tuning it to B flat.

If you use the Internet right, you can find a gateway to loads of potential hobbies. Maybe even give you a few interesting ideas for what to do with what you have.

Alone is the most awful word in the English language - to misquote Stephen King.

Stephen King surprised me with the above mentioned statement. To call aloneness the most dreadful thing in the world is truly frightening.
